Re: NVIDIA Fast Sync

Capping framerate just below refresh rate with VSync already gives you tearing-free low-latency gameplay. Triple-buffered if need be. Now obviously "FastSync" is aimed at getting high framerates, but it's not like CS:GO engine-wise benefits significantly from framerates above tickrate. And so if you...

Re: BenQ Picture Modes qustion.

Dunno, just check their site. They MUST have customer support somewhere. Or just tweet at them/write on their facebook.

Re: BenQ Picture Modes qustion.

Mhm, - no idea about that specific series of models but generally LCD panels do some post-processing to make things look nice. Usually, "gaming" modes (I guess that's "fps" for benq) disable those additional processive steps for a few miliseconds less latency. This naturally comes with a loss in (mo...

Re: Nvidia Settings and Resolution question

Use NVIDIA Inspector and then just disable all post-processive graphic effects, set power management to maximum performance, use single-display performance mode, set pre-render to 1 frame. Display Scaling if available (monitor has internal scaling capabilities) and "No Scaling" for both Display or G...

Re: Inherent click delay found in mice.

On most sensor casings I have seen the top is just mounted on and can be removed relatively easily. With microscoping the problem I mostly ran into is getting proper lightning from above, but there's specialised gear for that naturally. In that pcgamer logitech interview they revealed a common actua...

Re: flood's input lag measurements

the phosphors don't decay rapidly enough during the dark interval for the light level to drop below the threshold That is what I thought but then both measurements wouldn't just become unstable or plateau but completely useless. Like here where prolonged decay time leads ultimately to a transition ...

Re: flood's input lag measurements

flood you have a NVIDIA card right - care to test latency with the nvsvc service enabled vs. disabled? the service launches nvvsvc.exe and nvxdsync.exe, so make sure those are not present with it disabled. profiles are still applied without them (used inspector frame limiter) so I don't know how to ...

Re: flood's input lag measurements

oh true, for vsync it doesn't matter external limiters provide better frametimes though, so less microstuttering as well, but valve actually looked at fps_max behaviour and improved frametimes (and mailed me back about it). any theories as to where external limiters add lag? As I said earlier in the...

Re: flood's input lag measurements

Yeah I'm excited to start my own tests but I can see there are some little maybe annyoing variables involved that you have to account for and I know it takes time and motivation to even go ahead and mess with the settings over and over again when we know latency-wise nocap nosync is the optimum that...
