Re: Why Image Retention / Burn-In Sometimes Occur On LCDs
Did you end up figuring out or has there been an update to how Retroarch does BFI to either drop a frame or there's a proper shader to apply now that achieves the effect we want? Otherwise I'll do the tv static workaround mentioned in the article. I sadly didn't, it seems that not many people are r...

Re: LCD display question
Black Frame Insertion can indeed help with motion-clarity and there are ways to work with it outside emulators and old games but you need the double amount of Hz that your game has fps. So for 60fps games you would need 120hz and for 30fps games 60hz is enough but for these software solutions you w...

Coolermaster GP27U users, should I update to firmware 1.4?
Despite the GP27U being a buggy mess firmware-wise which I knew before I bought it, I love this monitor and the picture it gives me. To be honest the firmware issues aren't that bad for me though I wonder, should I upgrade to the 1.4 firmware? Mine shipped with 1.3 and I have no glaring issues but s...

Re: Significant RetroArch BFI Update
- Algorithm to auto select 'decent' Dark Frames choice, for any given selected BFI refresh rate. Will also avoid defaults that can cause Image Retention at any Hz higher than 120. (Impossible to avoid at 120 if you have an affected screen... get an OLED :D ) . I can't believe I missed this message,...

Re: Significant RetroArch BFI Update
So if I read this right, does that mean when I setup things correctly I won't get image retention anymore on my 160hz screen when using RetroArch BFI?

Frustrations with a 4k 160hz + 1080 60hz Dual Monitor setup, no custom resolution for 1080p panel possible
I realize my problem might be very niche but I hope I can get some insight before I rip my hair out over this. My PC with a RTX 4070 runs a dual monitor setup with a 4K 160hz Cooler Master GP27U and an old ASUS 1080p panel, both run over Display Port. Despite the bugs of the GP27U's firmware I love ...

Re: Why Image Retention / Burn-In Sometimes Occur On LCDs
- 160hz so enough for 60fps BFI That should be 180, not 160. Oh I'm aware that 180hz bypasses the problem altogether. I just wanted to mention that the screen I bought had >=120hz so it's enough for 1-Frame BFI. I also asked over at the Retroarch forums and they aren't a fan of the Framedrop Workar...

Re: Why Image Retention / Burn-In Sometimes Occur On LCDs
Sorry to also chime in on this rather old topic. I actually registered here for it because I got a Cooler Master Tempest GP27U 4k 160 Mini-LED display and I love it to bits. I also thought I pretty much hit the jackpot for retro-games short of an actual CRT: - Mini-LED so no uneven pixel-wear or bur...
