I did not even know this "warming up" to return to normal thing is a thing. Is this phenomenon distinct to this model or panel?

I just got this exact monitor today and I'd say it matches all your wants. I don't know if the colors and brightness would match your standards but in comparison to my Benq Gl2460 it's a little bit better in comparison. I'd say just keep the 980. Now that DSR is a thing you can always push your cards to their limits whenever you want.
