Re: LCD display question
Are there any CRT Monitors in Venezuela? You may be able to find an old cheapo PC CRT Monitor that will outperform most LCDs. No motion problems with those(so long as you match frame rate to refresh rate and so long as you set 75hz/85hz refresh rate to reduce flicker). Or you could find a cheap used...

Re: OLED questions from a visual neuroscientist
Hmmm, well not sure what you mean with the small object comment... maybe Chief can address that. I’m hypothesizing here but there may be some sort of built-in burn-in mitigation going on. Some links that may be useful: https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-monitors/asus-pg27aqdm-auto-dimming-when-pla...

That is where Framegen comes in. You render 100fps and framegen the rest to a 1000fps.Supermodel_Evelynn wrote: ↑05 Apr 2024, 14:481000 FPS is NOT a realistic goal even with computers coming out 30 years into the future we will all long be dead by the time a PC can maintain 1000 FPS in any AAA title
AI will also play a role.

Re: OLED questions from a visual neuroscientist
Also, some other tidbits you might find useful: OLEDs have no phosphor decay so no phosphor trail artefacts during dark scenes like with CRTs. Overall the pixel response time which is in the microseconds is not as fast as the electron gun on a CRT(nanoseconds), so from that perspective they aren't a...

Your image is not showing.
I believe you meant to post this.
PS: You should preferrably use attachments to post images, since linking from dropbox seems to vanish the image after a while.

Re: OLED questions from a visual neuroscientist
To add to what Chief said: There is also the factor of most LCDs using DC Dimming at a very high rate(some high-end models can do 50khz).
DC Dimming is pretty unfeasible with OLEDs since it would affect color accuracy and so on and so forth, so most OLED manufacturers use PWM or sync to refresh rate.

Re: OLED questions from a visual neuroscientist
That monitor operates in sync with the refresh rate so for 240hz it flickers every 4.16ms(1/240hz), if you have it at 60hz it would be 16.67ms and so on. asustftcentral.png asusrtings.jpg https://tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/asus-rog-swift-oled-pg27aqdm https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/asus/rog-sw...

So did they roll this thing out yet?
Seems like they only rolled it for monitors and they still don’t seem to review the BFI in detail, just give you info if you can do adjust strobe width and whatnot.

Elementary Explanation: Trying To Understand Pixel Refresh Rate (Was: "New Futuristic Temporal Resolution Hypothesis")
Disclaimer: This hypothesis is just a little fun thought experiment An interesting concept came to my mind recently: What if the refresh rate matched the framerate? Would that eliminate all motion blur including Sample and Hold, blur from frame repetition etc. ? Now I know what you’re thinking: ’’Bu...

Re: Source file vs Refresh-based frame duplication: Video Games vs Movies
THREAD REVIVAL So I just remembered this thread. Looking back at this, I think I was misunderstood when I originally proposed this since I think I did not explain myself very well. Of course multiplying the same frames would not improve motion fluidity(only higher framerate does that), but it could...
