Re: Dissapointed with VS XG2401
Do a factory settings reset and only turn down the brightness. Nothing else. You might have to use a brightness of lower than 10, even. That is what I first did when I got the monitor. At default settings, brightness 10 or lower everything seems off, the colors are kinda dead, and not intense enoug...

Dissapointed with VS XG2401
I finally bought it and the colors are washed up. It just looks too bright no matter what setting I set it to (as in "gloomy", I dont know how to describe it. It's specially noticeable when you read test on a white background, in reddit for example, the greyed out text like "submitted by" , "points"...

Re: Best monitor for Quake playing with decent colors?
Im using this profile color because people claimed it look better with it: http://www.overclock.net/t/1594199/viewsonic-xg2401-better-than-lg/50#post_25608340 Im also using "User mode" as requested, and manually tweaked contrast and brightness until I was able to read text on a white background with...

Re: Best monitor for Quake playing with decent colors?
I have finall recieved the monitor. It was insanely bright by default. What are some decent settings for this one? I have set the brightness to 19 (it was at 100 by default), I also activated "Display Port 1.2" in "setup menu". I played some quake and I was not able to see enough of a difference in ...

Re: Best monitor for Quake playing with decent colors?
Finally bought the Viewsonic. Can't wait to try it out, im sick of staring at my laptop. I realized I did a mistake and bought a displayport to displayport cable and I needed a displayport to minidisplayport because my GPU has a minidisplayport port: https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/R7850-Power-Edi...

Re: Best monitor for Quake playing with decent colors?
It certainly can be a tough decision especially when you've saved up many weeks (or months) of income for a brand new monitor -- if you're still using (and fairly happy with) a 10 year old system, it's possible that your budget might be limited, and I can totally understand the need to choose very ...

Re: Best monitor for Quake playing with decent colors?
Thanks for input. I still can't decide between the LG and the Viewsonic. What would you choose? Looks like it all comes down to these 2. I can buy the Viewsonic easily in a local shop while the LG cannot be found easily, and the new one takes too much to ship and still not enough info and judging by...

Re: Best monitor for Quake playing with decent colors?
I play QW and QL. Im looking for a 144hz, 1080p, 24inch monitor. I will not be enabling anything that adds input lag (such as Freesync, G-Sync or Motion 240 for the LG) I've narrowed my options down to these ones: Viewsonic XG2401 LG 24GM77 LG 24GM79G (to be released) FYI -- the 24GM79G is now avai...
