Re: How accurate is this post?

Salt, do you use g-sync? There's no stutter during FPS fluctuations. Not even the slightest hint of stutter. This is G-Sync with FPS variance: http://www.testufo.com/#test=stutter&demo=gsync&foreground=FFFFFF&background=000000&max=12&pps=720 No stutter. This is vsync with FPS variance: http://www.t...

Re: How accurate is this post?

G-SYNC's minimum refresh function isn't causing stutter, even with multiple refreshes of the same frame, because the delivery is matching the framerate the GPU is outputting. Does that make more sense? With v-sync, a duplicate frame means a break in the delivery, whereas with G-SYNC in the lower ra...

Re: How accurate is this post?

and more that the low frametimes space the frame delivery far enough apart to necessitate that those frames be refreshed more than once until the next to keep the display active You mean high frame times. This actually causes visible stutter, as you see update, update, pause (frame displayed twice)...

Re: How accurate is this post?

--- OK. That's more or less how I see it too - assuming you are saying what I think you are saying. The game captures the latest game state and use that to determine what to render. The post I was referring in the OP seems to imply that the game take estimated projected rendering time of a frame in...

Re: How accurate is this post?

while the animation distance is determined by how long the previous frame took. This would require the game engine to track previous frame times and adjust animation accordingly. Do that do that? If frame times vary significantly every frame ... what are the chances they be making things worse by t...

Re: How accurate is this post?

Not the same thing. When I say "duplicate frame" it means duplicate refreshes of the display to maintain the 30Hz physical minimum of the panel. Unlike v-sync, G-SYNC adjusts the refresh rate to the framerate. If the display remains at such low sustained framerates/refresh rates (<36 fps) without t...

Re: How accurate is this post?

Duplicate frames != interpolate frames though.

We duplicate frames all the time with regular Vsync when the GPU misses the refresh date line.

How accurate is this post?

https://www.blurbusters.com/gsync/how-does-gsync-fix-stutters/ It's written in 2013. Quite sure games don't take into account "time to presentation" and adjust object position based on it - you would need to be psychic to do that. Don't believe G-sync interpolates between frames either since one of ...
