Re: PSA: The purpose and origin of 144hz.

Okay, now go to Testufo.com and make sure that 120fps doesn't look like 60fps, or that it even shows up at all.

Re: PSA: The purpose and origin of 144hz.

In what context? Are you sure you didn't have a resolution mode set by a game put you into 60hz? Did you ever actually check your 120hz with Testufo? It's an astoundingly bold claim - like a "go to your local hospital and submit yourself for human vision research, because apparently you're unlike a ...

Re: PSA: The purpose and origin of 144hz.

I don't get what's so unbelievable in that... Much easier to believe you were misconfigured and only getting 60hz. That or believed you were seeing flicker, got a headache, and decided you could see it. Or you did the hand-wave thing like we as kids used to in front of CRTs to see the staggered fin...

PSA: The purpose and origin of 144hz.

I see a lot of 144hz love around here, but I feel that it's just for the bigger number. 144hz comes from being six times the 24 frames per second of standard film. When you see a 3D movie it's in 24fps, and each frame is repeated three times for each eye: Left-Right-Left-Right-Left-Right. This reduc...

Re: XL2411Z Best sub-$300 monitor?

we need a new forum for "which monitor to get" :P someone should compile a spreadsheet comparing the various options The answer is, generally, the 2411z unless you have gripes about the overaggressive anti-ghosting, which is a very understandable hangup. At profiled 120hz it has much better colors ...

Re: The best 24"~ monitor for gaming on high end AMD card?

144hz isn't really worth the color depth loss and wider top and bottom bands out-of-phase.

Plus any game locked to 60 or, Gaben forbid, 30fps is going to still vsync without continuous microstutters.

Re: The best 24"~ monitor for gaming on high end AMD card?

i ordered the XL2411Z , do i need to set it up somehow or its just fine out of the box? All pretty much right here: Just be sure to run VT1350/120hz, set the persistence between 1ms and 2ms, keep the crosstalk on the early side, get the appropriate ICC profile, and set it to the Standard picture mo...

Re: Benq XL2430T "WhiteBlur"

Definitely Benq's hyperaggressive anti-ghost. It's a tough choice between ghosting everywhere and even worse nega-ghosts in midtones.

Maybe they can put out some firmware updates to tone it back a bit. I found it immediately funny that the lowest setting is 'high' on the 24xxZ.
