Strange spikes on w11 when discord/steamchat/audio is working

Post by Slender » 24 Dec 2023, 01:19

I’ll say right away that I don’t have a problem with usb and win10 with the same usage scenario. I don't have DPC/ISR delays either.
I use separate mouse controllers, so it's all the more strange that this happens.

Discord defaults above normal priority, is yours adjusted down? If not, can you try testing that? Task Manager > Details tab > right-click on discord > set priority...

Another thing is windows audio enhancements may be causing it, which are enabled by default. You can find this setting in Sound under playback devices, then properties and then enhancements tab.

There are also software audio devices in Device Manager that could be causing it... I disable all of the software devices and haven't noticed any drawbacks so far.

you use real.exe for audio latency reduction?
It creates periodic stutters on win11 for me.
