every polling rate tester showing only 125Hz

Post by chandler » 07 Feb 2024, 09:11

Hello,

I've got the DAv3 and no matter which polling rate I choose via Synapse (1k/2/4/8) it shows only 125Hz (tried mousetester 1.3/1.4/1.5.3, and my go-to recorder - MarkC mouse recorder)

I do feel the frequency changing and see it on my XL2566K , on 125hz its very choppy, 500 also, 1000hz is still noticeably worse than 2/4k)

so why do the testers show 125Hz only? and how to fix that ?

I am on WIN11 by the way

EDIT : Picking 125hz / 500hz in Synapse ACTUALLY SHOWS 15Hz, and 62Hz in the testers

thats normal for win11 with the updated polling rate viewtopic.php?t=12157. use either dimr.exe or razers PollingRateTesterApp

oh sorry haven't noticed your reply there.

well I did update the firmware of the mouse and it stopped showing 15/62Hz in MarkC recorder while selecting 125/500hz

which led me to believe the polling rate with the older firmware was correctly shown (and for some reason the mouse was malfunctioning and reporting at 15/62hz for real)
BUT - now every polling rate I choose it only shows 125Hz via MarkC / MouseTester (all recent versions)
I remember reading that thread but it says that only MarkC reports incorrectly. While I see ONLY 125Hz in MouseTester 1.5.3 aswell.

EDIT : well I actually tried to download Direct Input, but all the links on google are minimum 10 years old and all broken, I remember using this program way way back when I had oc'd an old mx518 to 500hz from 125 and tested it with dimr.exe

can someone please save me by providing a download link ? or even uploading it ? (you'll be doing me a huge favour and i'll be forever thankfull :D )

Issue 1: That's a bug where DAV3 fails to register as HS device (0.125 ms USB frame) and ends up in FS mode (1 ms USB frame). There is a new firmware that's supposed to address this. The polling rate setting in Synapse only impacts the motion data report rate (8000 -> every poll, 4000 -> every 2nd poll, 2000 -> every 4th poll event motion data is allowed to be transmitted etc.). The polling rate is always at the maximum (8000 Hz if HS, 1000 Hz if FS) to reduce click latency. When the bug occurs, your report rate will be 1/8th of what you select (e.g. 125 Hz instead of 1000, or 1000 instead of 8000), because the FS USB frame (1ms) is 8x longer than the HS USB frame (0.125ms).

Issue 2: Recent Windows 11 versions throttle emission of raw input events to applications that aren't focussed to 125 Hz. Keep the MouseTester window focussed to circumvent this.

what is HS and FS first of all?

and there was a firmware update from Dec 2023, I updated the firmware and the testers dont show 15/62Hz if I pick 125/500 at Synapse - but it doesnt show more than 125hz either on MMR (markc mouse tester) & MouseTester 1.5.3

Apps like Razer MouseTesterApp / Some testers online including the blurbusters one - do show the true polling rate. I tested 800 dpi at 2000hz and 1600dpi at 4000hz.
but I really need a WORKING DIMR.EXE link to download the program.. I dont trust anything else right now
