Does enabling Lightboost add input lag in any way shape or form to the gaming experience? I've heard some popular professional gamers say it does.. can't recall who but I was just curious. I haven't done it in a while with my early Asus VG248QE model.
What is the method these days for enabling it on my monitor?
Does Enabling Lightboost
Re: Does Enabling Lightboost
It always does you refresh the display while you cannot see it refreshing. It will only show you the image once the refresh has happened. Crts or oled's with rolling scans don't do this as they update every pixel individually and then shortly after put it to black. So they don't suffer from input lag and still get low motion blur benefits. In terms of reaction this could either help you or won't help you. Lower motion blur can help you responding to movement quicker but at the same time there is more input lag which only affects you negatively. Though when you put lightboost on it will give you probably an 8 ms of extra latency if you use it at 120hz which most monitors support. I doubt your reaction time to an enemy would suffer much but it could throw off your aim a bit. Its a bit of a difficult topic to say which is better but if you feel it doesn't help you try turning it off and see if it works better that way.
If you want low motion blur without the extra input latency either buy an oled screen with a rolling scan or a crt. Although it is pretty tough right now to find a good quality crt or an affordable oled screen in these times unless you have a time machine.
