Overwatch + G-Sync input lag?
normally with g-sync you cap your framerate at 138fps on 144hz screens to reduce input lag, but in overwatch if you dont use in-game display-based (framerate+10, so 154fps) framerate cap, and exceed it, you have one-frame thread lag feature enabled which increases framerate, but adds a significant delay, what are optimal settings in this game with g-sync monitors? should i disable g-sync in this game?

Maybe try using something like Nvidia inspector too add a driver fps cap too the game.
They REALLY overlooked having a custom fps limit.

Try the RTSS frame rate limiter. (It comes with MSI Afterburner.)

When i was messing around with Fallout 4 and G-Sync i was getting screen tears with RTSS frame cap so i tried Inspector and it worked, but who knows, i might of done something wrong

You can limit FPS to whatever you want by editing the config.

Re: Overwatch + G-Sync input lag?
They finally patched the game, so it's possible to change custom FPS cap from the video settings:
So far I'm using 135, unless someone can measure settings that provide better input lag.

I'm also using 135, it feels noticeably more responsive. I haven't run any actual measurements though.Karvapallo wrote:They finally patched the game, so it's possible to change custom FPS cap from the video settings:

Re: Overwatch + G-Sync input lag?
I know it's not overwatch but when i was testing it with CS:GO 135 was low enough to not enable V-Sync but it depends game to game and how shitty their fame capping is. But remember that you can always disable V-Sync in your driver so if your frame rate ever gets high enough it will just tear instead of V-Syncing.
Start raising the cap and you will slowly start to see frame tears at the bottom of your screen.
I took these awhile ago and this is what they look like when i was no clipping sideways at 140fps in CS:GO and CS:S.

Nice! That's a good way to test the limit, because you can actually see the tears and get pictures whereas the input lag is difficult to observe and measure.
