Possible for blur reduction/ULMB with no added latency?
Do you think it'll ever be possible to make LCDs with blur-reduction/ULMB that doesn't have added input latency?

I've been interested in getting a ULMB monitor to get rid of the blur in OW and QL, but I've heard a lot of complaints about mouse-feel with ULMB.

Benq blur reduction on XL272Z/XL2420Z/XL2411Z has no noticeable added input lag compared to blur reduction off, when a high strobe phase is used (Strobe phase=100 WITHOUT vertical total tweaks; strobe phase just below "blacklight shut off cap" when using VT tweaks).3shells wrote:yes

Any extra latency is unmeasureable and undetectable by any human under this configuration (2ms at most).
XL2730Z acts the same way with the "AREA" setting, but XL2730Z does not accept VT changes.
The drawback of a high strobe phase like this is more "Crosstalk" around the bottom of the screen.
Strobe phase=000 has 1 FRAME higher input lag than 100/cap but lower crosstalk at the bottom of the screen.
I suspect ULMB monitors are just like Lightboost monitors; they strobe 1 frame "behind" to remove crosstalk at the bottom of the screen.

the 2730z would be the only one of interest for me since its 1440/27 inch, I'm waiting for the "Zowie" 2735 hopefully it'll be good. Seems like an updated model of the 2730, it'll have some kind of improved form of blur reduction.

Phase means time. Doesn't affect how much blur reduction there is. Only when at what POINT DURING A FRAME the strobe signal begins and ends. (thus crosstalk will move up and down the screen. Area=100 should have 1 frame lower latency than Area=000).

What about 144Hz? alright, thanks for the info. Interesting why such a setting isn't more readily available on these monitors, you'd think a lot of people would want BR without input lag even if it means crosstalk.Falkentyne wrote:Phase means time.
