I need a wireless mouse recommendation for 60hz

Post by trey31 » 02 Nov 2016, 20:51

Long story short, I've added a new display that is 60hz native and getting used to using mice on 60hz again after years of 120hz and 144hz just, well, sucks. Movement seems extra slow and choppy and sluggish. I've tried 5 wireless mice that I've collected over the years and they all suck. I think 2 of them are the same Logitech model just in different colors. So I need wireless mouse number 6 I suppose.

Here is my criteria, it is pretty straight forward:

1. MUST be wireless

2. Least amount of suck at 4K@60hz and 1080p@60hz. Bonus points for not being complete s*** @ 23.976hz

3. Under, like, $100 or so. Or $50. I already have a bin full of wired and wireless mice, joysticks, and gamepads. I don't really care about money but I would prefer not spend more than a modular psu on a wireless mouse. I've been duped by cheap amazon high dpi super awesome high five gaming mice before, so I'd prefer it be something decent and not of cheap build quality.

ALSO: Any opinions on the Logitech wireless trackball would be welcomed. I had/have a wired MS trackball and I remember it being awesome 10-15 years ago, but after sitting dormant for years in one of my boxes of things, it wasn't as great as my nostalgic memory suggested.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Logitech G403 ($100) or G602 ($80) are your best bet for that budget. The only thing better is the G900 which is $150.
However, Logitech mice occasionally go on sale for half off at Best Buy and Amazon.

None of these add any wireless lag, they perform the exact same as their wired equivalents. Any lag you notice with these would be caused by something else, most likely the display.
The G602 does 500hz polling and has a great sensor, but the other two can do 1000hz polling and have the undisputed best sensor available in any mouse.

Logitech G403 (wireless edition) or G900. Both are using same new wireless engine.
I doubt G602 have same engine. May be G602 and G900 will perform same by feelings. But there are years between release dates.

Thanks for the reply! G602 is on sale for $43 right now on amazon so I think I'm going to grab one and check it out.

So the G403 is roughly the same mouse as the G900, just different aesthetics? Worth spending the extra $60 over the G602?

Don't forget about to post here does G602 performance suits you or not :)
G900 is premium product and older than G403.

Lag will still be guaranteed crap at 24Hz. Law of physics, even for theoretical perfect mice, even faster than light, will be throttled by the lag built into the refresh rate number. Unfixable.

Running display in 48Hz reduces mouse lag considerably while having pretty 24p film playback.
Even better, try 72Hz which will have less lag than 48Hz while still doing 24p films well.

For sure. I'm hoping there is a noticeable improvement, but so far everything at 60hz sucks and I don't really want to get used to it (again). I'll report back!

Try downgrading to Windows 7 and disabling Aero (using Basic Desktop mode).

Instead of two refresh cycle lag (due to multilayered GPU compositing), you are reduced to one refresh cycle lag.

This will make a chasm of difference if you are stuck using 24Hz modes.

You may not see difference in cursor performance, since many graphics drivers provides a hardware mouse cursor "sprite" that bypasses the compositing delay. But things like click reactions, scrolling and dragging windows, will have one-frame less delay.

Logitech just announced the G603, which looks pretty promising (insanely long battery life):
