Since I havent been able to upgrade my monitor (despite having the original Mstar ISP ugprader), I am sending my monitor to Benq for a firmware upgrade.

I will just be asking for a V2, as i see no point in V3 or this new V4. I guess it doesnt really matter anyway, all i want is to use the strobe utility. :)

So has anyone heard back from the inquires they sent about V4? I sent back my monitors to BenQ for firmware update due to DP "no signal" issues and am wondering if maybe V4 has something to do with that.

Other models Monitor firmware your talking Benq Support Team... Have nice day... Enjoy. ;)
Thank you very much for the firmware. I dont notice anything different other than the monitor and backlight time on didnt reset when I flashed this one.

I did momentarly brick my monitor during the erase phase using the mstar. I would not power on all as if it was unplugged. I remoted into my desktop with a tablet and found a failure erasing a block. I thought it was surely replacement monitor time but I was able to recover it by flashing again. I couldnt believe it detected the model even with half the firmware erased.

Once it finished the monitor just cut on and all was well.

Well I received my monitors back from BenQ (props for getting it done so quickly) with V4 installed. From what I can tell it definitely fixed the no signal detected issue that I was having when turning off the monitor and turning it back on using DP. I can now enter the service menu again. :) Now I have a different issue. One of my monitors (both with V4) gets recognized by the Blur busters utility and the other doesn't. Kind of frustrating.

thank you! this got me updating to v4!
I always had an issue with v2 and DP on an ATI GPU. When I turned the monitor on and bootet my PC the resolution was set to 800x600 or something. I couldn't change it in windows. Then I always had pull the DP cable and plug it in again right after. This was so annoying. On v4 i don't have this problem anymore

What is the advantage of getting V4 over V2 ?
New AMA mode (undocumented) when using blur reduction.
Reduces inverse ghosting massively compared to the old one.

Chief Blur Buster wrote:I'll send an inquiry about what V4 fixes. Probably just a number of minor or usability fixes, none of them strobe related.

Anyy firmware V2 and later are the important ones for Blur Busters Strobe Utility compatibility.
New AMA mode (at least on 2720Z ; 2420Z and 2411Z users will need to test).

(Turn on BBR, toggle AMA From high to off(premium) then back to high.
Any resolution change or strobe duty/phase change will revert back to default AMA for blur reduction.

Makes blur reduction VERY similar to lightboost's overdrive quality now :):)
(a bit inverted in the way the overdrive works, though; lightboost mode had inverse ghosting at the bottom and normal ghosting at the top. Benq BR had normal ghosting at the bottom and inverse more at the mid/top. New AMA mode turns most of the inverse into a much smoother, toned down normal ghosting now. Looks much better on testUFO, almost identical to Lightboost mode. Some color transitions have worse ghosting than before. Dropping contrast to 0 on 2720Z helps remove most of the worse ghosting. If I may dare say, with contrast 0, it looks BETTER than lightboost on the desktop itself! Lightboost, when dropping contrast to 0, had some "bright translucent" type ghosting especially when moving the mouse cursor around on a white background. Using the new AMA mode and dropping contrast to 0 has NONE Of this.

Unfortunately I don't notice any change in the BBR for the XL2420Z with V4.
