can i do something more with my settings on xl2411z v4?

Post by IceCube » 11 Apr 2016, 13:28

hey community... i am mainly playing CSGO and i am owning a xl2411z with firmware v4 :)

currently i am using these settings:

Res: 1920x1080, Mouse 1000Hz, 800dpi
VT 1500 Tweak + 120 Hz
Blurbusters Strobe Utility (Persistance 1 lower than 2.0ms, and strobe phase not far left, 2nd far left)

Brightness 100
Contrast 20 (i read here that it lowers ghost talking more!?) -> should i use another setting???
AMA -> high, i hope i did the "bug-work-around" right with the "new AMA in v4 -> can i proof it in some way? :)
Colors 100 100 92
Sharpness 7
Gamme 5
BR On (ofc xD)
Instant On

is there anything i can do better to get more out of my monitor?

THY to all of u so far and your great work here :)

Use 144Hz without BBR.

You asked if you can get more out of the monitor.
He answered you.

144hz without blur reduction is actually pretty good, if you can keep the FPS at 144 fps at all times.
But I personally wouldn't use it on an XL2411Z because the overdrive artifacts are still pretty bad, even if you do the AMA high toggle by exploiting the blur reduction on -->blur reduction off switch bug I talked about many times on different threads here. But if you intend to use 144hz without blur reduction, at least abuse the AMA bug by

1) create two gaming presets, one "Standard mode" (save standard mode into gamer 1) with blur reduction off, gamma whatever you want, sharpness whatever you want, etc.

2) gamer 2 preset, with the same settings as gamer 1, but enabling blur reduction

3) Switch and activate gamer #2 and make sure MBR is on.
4) Go to AMA and highlight High; you can either highlight high and instead of pressing ENTER to select it, just press "back" (this refreshes the AMA setting anyway) or move it from high to off or premium, then move it back to high (both methods do the same thing, overwriting AMA high with a lower overdrive setting

here's an example of what it looks like.
http://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2795

5) now, WITHOUT disabling MBR in the monitor OSD, go into the OSD and activate gamer#1 directly. This will abuse a bug and apply the lower overdrive setting to MBR off. This won't look as good as on the XL2720Z but it will still be better than the default horrible settings.

I highly recommend the XL2720Z if you want to not use blur reduction. The default AMA high is horrible, like on all Benq monitors, but the "Bug" works MUCH better on the XL2720Z than on the 2420Z or 11Z.

Should have a picture:

XL2720Z:
144hz, blur reduction off, default AMA high
This is how basically all the Benq monitors look. it's bad. look at the inverse artifacts and spectral ghosting artifacts.

144hz, blur reduction off, bug toggled AMA high from blur reduction on preset:

Surely you can see the difference?
XL2411Z and XL2420Z benefit from this, but not nearly as much. The improvement of the AMA bug on the XL2720Z makes the 27" 1080p monitor DEFINITELY far worth it over the 24" versions. Also on the XL2720Z, the blur reduction on AMA bug removes all of the inverse ghosting (if using blur reduction), replacing it with much lighter normal ghosting, what a monitor with an "low overdrive" setting would look like. The normal ghosting can then be reduced by dropping the contrast, if you wish. (this applies to MBR on only)

PS: i have 300FPS in average, never less than 180FPS on all maps in 5v5 / in DM or casual 10v10 i have lower fps (but i dont play that much)... and i dont play other games

What do you mean they are not sharp?
Can you take a pursuit camera picture?
Are you using internet explorer at higher than 100hz refresh rate or chrome? Because IE won't work.
