BenQ 2411Z - VT1350/1502 problem

Post by DooM-_- » 18 Jun 2016, 17:26

Hi,

whenever I try to create a VT1350 or VT1502 custom resolution I end up getting a 4:3 resolution with black bars... Things I've done without any success

- create custom res in Nvidia CP 1980x1080 120hz VT 1350 and VT 1502
- create custom res with CRU 1980x1080 120hz
- Nvidia pixel patcher
- diffrent settings in BSSU
- rebooting several times

Everytime my res goes to 4:3 black bars although it's set to 1980x1080.

Anyone knows how to fix this ?

Thanks in advance

Make sure your "display mode" under picture->advanced is set to full screen.

Aspect should not be available when the vertical screen size is native size (since there's clearly nothing to aspect), but when using a VT tweak, the Aspect setting becomes available because the monitor thinks the scaler resolution is x1440 instead of x1080. Since 1080 is lower than 1440, the aspect setting becomes selectable when it shouldn't, causing the screen to look wrong.

This is important if you're using the "Aspect" setting for low display scaled resolutions like 1024x768 or 1280x1024, then you switch back to your native with a VT tweak. You can 'store" the current "Full, Aspect or 1:1" setting into a gamer 1-2-3 preset, but there's no quick way to activate them on the XL2411Z, unlike the 2420Z or 2720Z.

Note that having 1:1 selected will automatically go back to "full" at the VT tweak resolution as 1:1 is greyed out there (Even with the scaler thinking it's running at 1280x1440).

The scaler resolution can be seen in the "factory" burn-in menu on firmware V3-V4.

It was set to Full all the time ... but after switching to Aspect and then back to Full it suddenly worked :)

Thanks for your help

It was not really set to "full". Full simply gets highlighted when another selection is previously used (like aspect or 1:1) but then becomes unavailable on a resolution switch. It just moves back to the first available setting.
