The changes from V3 to V4 are significant or not really?
worth upgrading?

I have no idea what the changes are. Benq doesn't document them.
On the XL2420Z and XL2720Z, V4 fixed a displayport bug (critical). but XL2411Z does NOT have DP....

You have the mstar already?
Just flash it and find out. Remember to use the instructions on the "V2 dyi upgrade" section of the main blur busters website.
I remember one of the options lets you back up an existing firmware (and save it to a file) and another 'reads' the raw firmware from a file to get it ready for flashing (write). I don't remember which option is which, but if it says save as "spiflash.bin/rom", then that's the backup option which reads firmware off the monitor and saves it to a file (spiflash.bin) but you can change the name of it.

I dont have the mstar already, do you have one or you do it with Linux?
The MSTAR is a bit expensive, but I'm a noob with Linux and I'm afraid to mess up.

Both as I have both now.
I did it with Linux multiple times, including backflashing to V2, but I used both my laptop's VGA port (Originally) then later my R9 290x's DVI port successfully.
Keep in mind that some people recently have been having their DVI EDID get corrupted after using Linux. I did not have this problem, as I have a "legacy" motherboard BIOS. I SUSPECT (still a random guess) that UEFI Bioses are causing this to happen to people.
I later bought the Mstar device and used that just to mess around.
