XL2720Z triple screen

Hi all. I'm wondering if I should invest in 3 XL2720Z monitors for use with racing games such as Assetto Corsa. I currently have the XL2411Z and I absolutely love the Benq Blur Reduction (BBR).

I was wondering if there's anything in particular that's different on the XL2720Z image wise.
Can I just hook up the 3 monitors and enjoy BBR on all three monitors at any Hz from 60 and above in the game?

Is there anything to be aware of when using a triple screen setup?

I'm just asking to be sure because it's quite an investment. :)

The main difference would be just the size, to my knowledge they are pretty much the same.

Yea they should all just work fine like you want, someone might correct me tho

No differences, besides the displayport connector, and the XL2720z being capable of a more reduced AMA level than the 2411z (assuming your 2411z is on V3 or V4 firmware; the AMA tweaks don't work on V2). That's about it, besides the 27" screens maintaining the gamma settings easier at higher refresh rates than the 24" screens.

(the same AMA tweaks work on the xl2411z, just not as strongly, so they still should be used, if on V3+ firmware)

Thanks guys.
And always nice to hear from Falkentyne, the guru of monitors. ;)

It's all Masterotaku's fault. I blame him. And Chief, of course!

(how much you wanna bet Chief doesn't see this?

A couple of more questions about this:

1. The Acer Predator Z35 looks nice and wide. Would it be possible to have that as a middle screen and two XL2720Z as side screens? If so, could you for example run ULMB on the Z35 and BBR on the Benqs? And what about resolution, would you have to run windowed mode?

2. How is ULMB compared to BBR anyway? Just as blur-free?

I don't know anything about surround, but I read somewhere that if you're using an Nvidia video card, all three monitors MUST be the exact same resolution. And GPU scaled lower resolutions on Gsync monitors don't work.

ULMB is dimmer because ULMB doesn't have compensation for strobing where backlight voltage is increased. So at the same pulse widths, it will be significantly dimmer. BBR at 1.0ms pulse widths is bright enough to be usable. ULMB is dimmer. Crosstalk should be less than BBR without VT tweaks, but more than BBR with VT tweaks. Inverse ghosting artifacts are significantly less at stock (unless you enable AMA high after enabling benq blur reduction to reduce Benq's inverse artifacts). Not as ghost free as Lightboost mode on 24" 1080p screens, but better than Lightboost mode on 27" TN 1080p screens.

No one has ever done crosstalk full screen testing on a Gsync ULMB article review. The only tests done were old posts on these forums about the VG248QE's gsync module in ULMB mode. But that was a 24" 1080p screen. You can expect them to be different on 27" and higher.

Thanks again Falkentyne.
Btw, I'm seeing some monitors named Zowie LED XL2720: https://www.komplett.no/product/896200/ ... led-xl2720.

What exactly is the difference between those and the "regular" XL2720Z? Anyone know? They're priced almost exactly the same.
It doesn't have a Z in the model name, so does that mean it doesn't have Benq Blur Reduction?

Firmware update to change the name and logo from Benq to Zowie. Probably absolutely nothing else, unless there's some thing Benq sneaks in but never documents.

I edited my post before you replied it seems. :)

It's the lack of a Z in the model name that worries me? Does it mean it doesn't have BBR? And also "3D" is missing. Maybe it doesn't support strobing at all?
