LG 27” 1440P 480Hz OLED CES 2024

I’m going to get this one or the Asus model depending. Is there one that has a significant feature over the other one? Or do we not know yet for sure?
Secondly, is the display port 1.4 actually a factor worth considering? Also, why not just use HDMI 2.1 ? I’m about to start researching this topic because it’s one I’m not familiar with so I may find my own answer on this topic. Pretty familiar with all the other aspects, but no means an expert.
95% sure I’m going to get one of these monitors as soon as they are available, very excited.

What is the bandwidth cap for DisplayPort 1.4a with DSC? Can it still handle 1440p 480Hz?

Even if HDMI 2.1 is included, would that require compression as well? 1440p 480Hz requires more than 48Gbps bandwidth, no?

Unfortunately, this monitor will still come with a matte finish. The glossy people thought they saw was simply the film that wasn’t taken off before displaying.. Big bummer. My biggest concern for this perfect monitor is that matte finish. Anyone ever try removing one from a WOLED monitor before?

I believe the plastic matte film on the monitor also has AR-substance layer and possibly polarizing filter on it. Not a good idea to remove it. First it's laminated to the glass so it might prove out to be very hard to remove without damaging the glass/panel underneath. And even after succesfully removing it, you might end up with totally white display (only visible through polarizing lens) or best case scenario a screen with totally mirror like finish that reflects basically anything and everything. Even reflecting yourself by the light the monitor is outputting in a totally dark room.

I can't fathom how LG does not offer the same great glossy coating on their OLED monitors as on TV's.

However, there have been some madmen so fed up with the matte display, they have polished the film with different plastic polishers and buffers. https://youtu.be/r9CrdsThoLQ?si=0vEKrrvZYlrnzT9y

I'd imagine it's kind of hard to get perfect non-scratched results while still offering uniform AR capabilities of the film. Let alone to start this process with a thousand dollar monitor.

Tnx for sharing. Can you maybe point me where I have to look to get my 540hz pg248qp to 480hz 1080P withouth DSC? I tried using the YouTubes that discuss manual overclocking the monitor in CRU by just upping the hz. But that does not work. It seems I also have to alter the porch numbers. Hope someone can help!

I dont get why Zowie still uses DSC on 540hz HDMI 2.1. 1080p 8bit only answer is that your source is not correct. Can u name the source of this information?
