IGZO showing off a 27inch 8K 10bit 120hz display with 'HDR'. Although they mention 120hz it doesn't sound like they were actually displaying 120hz content. I'm not even sure were you would get that content and what would run it.

It sounds like fun developing that panel with no dead pixels.

8K120 with HDR is no easy task, suggesting 7680x4320 at 10 bits per color channel (so 30-bit for RGB) at 120 times a second would suggest needing 120 gigabits per second of bandwidth at a minimum (or 15 GB/sec

Wait a minute, that's more then DP 1.4 can offer...

a photograph of the rear shows eight separate DisplayPort cables being used in order to give the display the data it needs.

lol

As a bonus they were also showing off 2.87-inch display @ 1920x2160 offering 1008 PPI per eye for ‘4K to both eyes’ VR experience.

On the other hand, good luck in being able to visually detect a dead pixel without a strong magnifying glass

Is the VR screen oled?

I wonder if they'll ever sell this stuff.

Until it's blown up to....ehm.....cinema size FOV via virtual reality goggle lens trickery --
VR headsets are literally turbo-charged magnifying glasses!

Like being 8 inches or less from a 24" 4K monitor, but without the focussing eyestrain -- the lens made it more like staring into a cinema screen at a distant focal plane.

It's amazing how easy it is to detect dead pixels in virtual reality.... I wore a to-remain-unnamed 1440p (or was it 1200p) headset that had one black dead pixel and it felt like a massive dirt speck when viewing outdoor snow scenery. Star Wars Hoth, ice planet scenery, especially! I'll still easily see it at 4K (2160p) and probably will definitely still even at 8K (4320p) assuming good wide >100-degree FOV blow-up to span most of my vision field.

also the fact that for vr, dead pixels follow your head as you turn. that's another factor making it especially visible
