I need help with 1440p monitor

Post by ReallySadDevilGuy » 27 Dec 2023, 04:17

Hello, my current 1080p monitor is old and blury when I move the mouse quickly. I need a new 1440p monitor and all I care about is no blur, no ghosting and clarity when moving the mouse. Right now I'm looking at the LG 27GP850P-B, but I'm losing my mind a bit because there are so many monitors these days and you have to be very careful because many of them have either ghosting or some kind of blurring...

Btw, I play mostly competitive games, but I'm not as hardcore as I was back in the days, so I guess it doesn't make sense to buy 1080p 240hz, right?

My pc is Ryzen 7 7700 and RX 7800 XT so there should be no problem to handle 1440p?

I am in the same situation as there guy here, I am playing some competitive games but I am not that try-hard these days, I am in search of buying a monitor cuz my monitor (lenovo y25 144hz) is really keeping me nuts, too much motion blur, and when I visited my friends all of their monitors seem so smooth and have 144hz so they are not "better" from a hardware standpoint.
The thing is, in my country benq monitors are not that "popular" so to speak it's really hard to find them, tho, LG monitors dominate the markets and so I found LG UltraGear 27GP850-B a nice overall monitor, but I am really scared of ghosting and strobing and all that, it seems it does not compare at all with the 240hz monitors, but does it need to, what would you guys do if you were me or this guy? Go for the LG affordable one or try and find a benq 240hz one or the viewsonic 240hz one does the strobing is that less on there 2?

I thought a lot about it and honestly, buying 1080p 240hz nowadays does not make sense if you are not at least at the level of a semi-professional. I just got the LG 27GP850P-B today and so far I really like it, its really smooth and sharp. I dont think you can find anything better with 1440p at this price.

If you're on a budget it would be worth looking into the HP OMEN 27qs (make sure its qs version) which is 27" 1440p 240hz IPS with great response @ $300-330 on sale. You can even get open box @ bestbuy for cheaper.

After much consideration, getting 1080p 240hz now is pointless unless you're a semi-professional. My LG 27GP850P-B arrived today and I love its smoothness and sharpness. It's hard to beat 1440p at this pricing.

A 1440p monitor with a high refresh rate (e.g., 144Hz or 165Hz) should provide a good balance between resolution and smooth gaming performance.
The LG 27GP850P-B is a solid choice for a 1440p gaming monitor. Given your PC specifications (Ryzen 7 7700 and RX 7800 XT), you should have no problem handling games at 1440p resolution.
