ViewSonic OMNI XG2431 24

Post by gwgewgaeg » 13 Mar 2024, 03:17

Please remove the ViewSonic OMNI XG2431 24 from the recommended monitor list, I bought this display a couple months back and got a defective unit and was forced to play apex with horrible pixels down the center of my screen , i checked their amazon page just now and saw multiple people having the same defect.

I had to create a blurbuster account. just to voice this issue, that other people might fall into.

I have the XG2431 for 2 years now since April 2022. Seems like there was a bad batch with poor quality control. Sorry to hear about your experience. The only bug with my monitor is that it mutes audio when you switch input. I wouldn't recommend this monitor at all unless you plan to use it for retro gaming.

Yes this is a very common issue according to Amazon 25% of all XG2431 sold has been defective they have even put a warning label advising AGAINST purchasing the XG2431.

This issue isn't just exclusive to XG2431 tho, some samsung Odyssey G series monitor also have a similar defective / return rate

Hope mine will hold up. The first ViewSonic XG2431 I received had a visual defect out of the box but the second one appears to be visually flawless. Honestly would have gone with another monitor but there don't appear to be any that aren't massive downgrades in one way or another even at double the price.

My only gripe with the XG2431 is that I can't apply any colour correction as doing so worsens the response times and amount of ghosting considerably. It seems like an issue that could be fixed through a firmware upgrade, but the chances for that are slim considering the monitor was released three years ago.
