question to nvidia kepler owners

Post by flood » 07 Nov 2014, 22:25

a question to those of you with a kepler card, a 500/1000hz mouse, and windows 7. i'm sure there are a few of you around here :D

the windows 7 basic theme (right click desktop, personalize, windows 7 basic) disables compositing on the desktop and aero effects. basically, this makes the desktop run without vsync, so when you drag a window around, you should see tearing.

my question is, when using the basic theme, where do you see the tearing?

on my gtx 460 (fermi) and on intel hd graphics, i see tearing everywhere. this is expected as my mouse polls at 500hz, which is much higher than my display's refresh rate of 85hz.

here's a picture: http://i.imgur.com/taRy5o4.jpg

on the two maxwell cards i've tried (750ti, 970) there is this weird thing where the top half of my screen or so shows no tearing, but then you get a lot of tear lines in the bottom half.

unfortunately i dont have those cards right now, so i can't take a picture, but here's an awesome paint diagram: http://i.imgur.com/zrsjB5G.png

so... what about kepler?

get a gsync monitor, anything else is awful

some are relatively cheap,
this is one of the most expensive stores in EU, but at least lists all the currently existing gsync monitors:

thank you guys for your thoughts but this isnt another "what monitor should i get thread".
i have a vg248qe gsync modded, a sony fw900, and a sony cpd-g520p. i mainly play csgo at 1024x768@150hz on my cpd-g520p with fps >250. for desktop i am completely happy to run a dual monitor setup with both my crts at 85hz.

so... anyone with a kepler card wanna help answer my question?
