Hi,
I was looking around for a new monitor as I was stuck with an old Acer 19inch Monitor.
So I looked around and decided to buy a BenQ XL2430T - http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-XL2430T--i ... nQ+XL2430T
It's not even been a day yet and it's my first TN panel so I've googled around sorted out my colours according to other peoples recommendations and It's bearable, I can manage with these colours. Played a bit of CS:GO and everything seemed good, 144Hz really does feel nice.
I then came across the Acer XB240HA- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acer-24-Inch-G- ... cer+XB240H
And what really caught my eye was that it is a 144Hz Monitor but with G-SYNC and for pretty much the same price as the BenQ one.
So I immediately had regrets thinking, I should of went with this Acer as It has GSYNC and it'll help with new games as well as games that I play such as GTA-V. (GPU is GTX 970 btw).
But a few reviewers on amazon claim to have dead pixels or light bleeding etc.
Do you think it is worth returning this BenQ monitor and going for the Acer XB240HA GSYNC monitor? however will I be sacrificing a lot of colour/picture quality and/or overall general quality of the monitor just for a cheap GSYNC one over the BenQ?
Or should I just stick with this BenQ for a few years (3-4) and look into the new models that will be out then (hopefully cheaper IPS versions).
I'd really love to hear your opinions on this. Thank you very much for your time people!

Re: BenQ XL2430T or Acer XB240HA
You're comparing the wrong monitor.
The Acer should be compared to the XL2420G
That is the Benq gsync equivalent. The XL2420G is a hybrid engine meaning it has a hardware switch (on the back) to switch back to Z mode (XL2420Z) instead of Gsync scaler mode. In Z mode, the monitor is identical to the XL2420Z.
I'm not sure if the OSD is identical however (in Z mode); if it is, it might even take a XL2420Z V4 firmware.

Re: BenQ XL2430T or Acer XB240HA
I get that this is a bad comparison but I mean for the purchase I've made as I'm not looking to spend crazy amounts for a monitor with GSYNC but seeing an Acer monitor for pretty much the same price of this BenQ one WITH G-SYNC is making me reconsider however I don't want to end up with a horrible looking monitor with defects etc.Falkentyne wrote:You're comparing the wrong monitor.

Well your point is slightly flawed. As I said the Benq has TWO scalers in one so you can use it in classic mode and have a hardware scaler.
The Acer does NOT have a hardware scaler. No current gsync monitors have hardware scalers. The scaling is all done via the video card (GPU scaling).
The Benq is the same if used in gsync mode.
The Acer would not be suited for an AMD card as you don't have any sort of hardware scaling abilities.
The Benq would be as you can just use it in Z mode and run it as an XL2420Z. It can also output to consoles via hdmi (it can't do this in gsync mode).

Re: BenQ XL2430T or Acer XB240HA
I see what you mean.
But if I was to spend around £290 pounds and had to decide between the BenQ XL2430T or the Acer XB240HA which one would be a better choice (as both are around that price) I just want to make a choice between these two but unsure which to stick with, right now I'm using the BenQ but if the Acer is a better recommendation (as it has additional gsync support for pretty much the same price) I may go with this.
Apologies if I'm confusing you with my replies.

Re: BenQ XL2430T or Acer XB240HA
I simply can't answer this question.
It's like asking "what would you rather eat? Pizza or hamburgers?"
I'm sorry
If you have an Nvidia card, then the Acer for Gsync.
If you have an AMD Card, the XL2430T (but I would choose the XL2420Z over that due to the profile bugs (gamer preset) and calibration issues (black/white level, etc) in the XL2430T. No one really complained about the XL2420Z except for the less than vibrant colors (at least standard mode followed close to sRGB preset) and aggressive overdrive artifacts, but some people (as you can see from the huge XL2430T thread) had problems getting the image to look like they wanted, and the black equalizer 2.0 seems buggy or broken.

Re: BenQ XL2430T or Acer XB240HA
Ah I see, I seem quite happy with the XL2430T might not bother returning it for the XL2420Z.
I do use a GTX 970(nvidia).
My only concern with going with the Acer is that there are a lot more negative reviews on amazon with regards to dead pixels or light bleeding compared to the BenQ. Not sure if it's worth the risk and effort.

The acer have the best tn 24" gsync panel on the market but nobody cares.
Asus = benq = aoc = bad constrast < acer.
Period.
People paying the price of a benq only because the sites only reviews asus and benq, it makes me laugh.
(yes I tested them)

Re: BenQ XL2430T or Acer XB240HA
I just bought the Acer and it is awesome. I was hesitant as there are not many reviews but I am very happy with my decision. I originally wanted the AOC but discarded it because apparently they sell a different panel now the reviewers already reviewed the original good panel.
I have a Dell U2410 as well and the TN panel is quite good compared to the IPS. You notice the difference when looking at them at no practical viewing angles.

Believe me the acer is better than the aoc, wich have the same panel as asus and benq, no debate, I had the two.
I dont know for the ips, but with tn gsync acer > all.
