Laggy gaming in 60hz mode [Nvidia GTX 1070 - Benq XL2411z]

Post by illetyus » 27 Jun 2016, 17:01

Hello..

My monitor (benq xl2411z) is extremely laggy in 60hz mode. I know this monitor is not meant to be played on 60hz mode but i want to have a consistent framerate in my games...

Why is my monitor is soooo laggy... even i move my mouse, it leaves shadows.. gaming experience is horrible even i DO have a good gpu...

Are you using v-sync?

If you're going to use v-sync try turning the refresh rate back up and capping framerate at half your refresh rate(preferably in game).

If you're not going to use v-sync, best to leave the monitor at a high refresh rate.

Too many things to discuss here.
Monitors do NOT cause lag. This is a function purely of the video card. The only "lag" a monitor can cause is frame freezing from an improper sync, and that's not the issue here.

1) 60hz has 16.7 ms of input lag with vsync on. This can be removed with vsync off.
2) Prerender Limit of 3 adds even more input lag, but this registry variable (I don't know the exact name, go to an Nvidia page and look it up. I have an AMD card and can't help you here) might only affect DirectX 9 games. To make input lag as low as possible, set Prerender limit to "1". Some games are designed for prerender limit of 3 and may display frame anomalies with a value of 2 or 1. I saw that in Witcher 2. Elder Scrolls: Oblivion has a smooth mouse in the menu with prerender limit of 1(assuming on AMD this is FlipQueueSize=1), while 2 and 3 had a jittery mouse.
3) Nvidia has been reported to add extra input lag when "GPU scaling" is used in directX 9 games, at non native refresh rates. If you get this, try creating a detailed custom resolution in ToastyX CRU (I can NOT help with the Nvidia control panel, as I said I do not have an Nvidia card!) with your low res resolution and refresh rate, and make sure "Scaling by GPU" is disabled in the Nvidia control panel.
Make sure you combine this with prerender limit of 1.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your help but you just can't get my question. I say, "MY MONITOR LAGS IN 60HZ MODE", "I CAN'T DO 60hz GAMING ON 144hz MONITOR."

Then there's no reason to turn down your refresh rate.

But i want a stable fps in my games... In 144hz mode, even it drops to 70; it feels laggy. I have GTX 1070 (second strongest gpu and wtf.....

Lowering your refresh rate can only increase lag, if you want a stable framerate, use a framerate cap. Preferably in game.

Not if your complaint is input lag or inconsistent framerates. Have you tried a 72fps in game framerate cap with the monitor at 144hz?

And you need to better isolate/explain the actual problem. Imagine I was asking you how to fix my car, and all I told you is what kind of car I have and that it's making a funny noise.
