Help me out with my XL2730Z please?

Post by noelnh » 15 Jul 2016, 11:16

Hello guys,

I have this weird problem with my newly bought XL2730Z monitor. Right from the start: I've connected it using DP 1.2 to my admittedly very old HD 7950 (will be replaced soon).

During a few videos I watched I noticed a strange effect, it looked like things that were moving on screen became pixelated. It loos sort of like you put a giant mosquito net on the screen, but as soon as nothing is moving anymore this disappears.
When I played a round of CS GO this effect got even worse, if I just strafe from left to right, not moving my mouse at all, thin vertical dashes seem to appear on light surfaces. Enabling BlurReduction seems to only make matters worse. I tried to capture this on an image but it's not really visible.

The question I now have is why these things appear, if this is a more common thing that I could see in a test on testufo.com and if there is any way to fix them. Thanks for any help.

edit: acutally found a pic of the problem: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9768004/stripes.png

sounds like an inversion artifact.

Thank you for your answer. How exactly is the test supposed to look if no artifacts occur?
If those are inversion artifacts, is there any chance that by returning and reordering the monitor I could get rid of them?

Without inversion artifacts, The moving part looks identical to the stationary part. I'm not sure whether or not returning it for the same model would help.

Okay so then this is probably the problem. On my screen the upper part has green and pink vertical dashes, regardless of the speed I select for the moving part. If I pause it then it looks exactly like the lower square.
I might just write the BenQ customer support, I can't really imagine that this is an issue every panel for this monitor has, it's clearly visible especially in game and once I saw it I noticed it all the time.

Thank you for your help.
And to anyone else, have you ever heard of this panel having these issues?

Yes, this same issue has affected the Asus ROG Swift. The panels used are exactly the same, but with slight differences in the panel made for the Asus, but they're basically the same type of TN panel, so the same issues and failures have happened on both the XL2730Z and ROG Swift.

The XL2720Z 27" panel does not have these issues as this is a 1080p panel from a different line.
