Sweet Mother of God!

THEY FIXED 100HZ STROBING.

But that panel name...
"BMS M270Q009 V0"?

I can't even google that name.

I guess trying to cross flash a XL2730Z with a XL2735Z firmware won't work, since the panel is different...

If you're still here, can you do me a favor?

Can you download "ToastyX Custom resolution utility" and create a few custom refresh rates at 2560x1440?
Try 85hz, 75hz and 91hz.

http://www.monitortests.com/forum/Threa ... tility-CRU

After creating the resolutions, you need to restart the driver with restart64.exe.

Then try to enable strobing. Check testUFO to see if the refresh rates sync up.
Then enable Dynamic accuracy.

Please tell me if it works. Check very carefully for stuttering.

If it does work, this might be my next monitor...

But where's the freesync =.=

BTW if the custom refresh rates are too much work for you, can you at least check 60hz to see if it "flickers" and strobes once per refresh, or if it double strobes? If it single strobes, it should flicker like a CRT.

Messed with that tool a bit. They all seemed to work without stuttering, but none of them were perfectly sharp like 100Hz+ is (which I'm assuming is expected).

That's understood.
Thank you.

Was 60hz "flickering" like a CRT with a rather smooth image? Or was there a double image type effect?
You can also change the "intensity" field (this used to be called strobe duty) to increase or decrease the effect of blur reduction, at the cost of a dimmer screen.

Thanks for sharing photos of service menu. Seems like we have new panel. Does DyAc (Dynamic Accuracy) work great at 144Hz? Is there any crosstalk at 144Hz like we have on other BenQ with BBR (BenQ Blur Reduction)?

Yes, thank you for testing this monitor!

Please don't forget to test 60hz refresh rate strobing.
This is very important, because 60hz "single strobe" is great for consoles.

If it isn't "double strobing", then you should see backlight flicker like an old CRT screen. It should be smooth

Also, to test for Crosstalk, like Q asked, the best way is to run testUFO fullscreen (press F11 while it's running), with fullscreen also selected on the test webpage. You can use the service menu "Area" setting to change the "Strobe Phase" timing, which changes the position of the crosstalk also. This value ranges from 1 to 100 (unless Benq changed something again). I think he just wanted crosstalk at 144hz.

Intensity was formerly known as "Strobe duty" and that controls the strobe pulse width (how long the backlight is flashed on each frame).
Your camera is much better than mine. Here's a fullscreen crosstalk test picture I took this morning on my XL2720Z on a $130 camera. I had to use pursuit mode (moving my camera in the same speed as the UFO's to the right) or it is too blurry so sorry for the quality).
You can see some crosstalk at the very top and virtually none at the bottom.

XL2720Z, strobe duty=006, strobe phase=000, custom resolution: Vertical Total 1500, 100hz refresh rate.

It's important to note that the "strobe duty" (now known as intensity) value has been reversed on the 2430T, 2730Z and very likely, XL2735. What is "strobe duty" 006 for Falk will be something like Intensity = 23 or 25 for you. Something like that. Pretty high in any case.

I am very eager to hear how they improved with this monitor. VT tweaks may no longer be necessary. I am especially interested in finding out if strobing is usable at 144hz without too much crosstalk.

Yeah Luckbad! You're our monitor punching bag, since no one else seems to even be able to BUY the monitor.
TFTcentral doesn't have one (I asked Simon if he can do a review). Monitor doesn't seem to be available for purchase anywhere except where you bought it. That's why we're on you

If you can do 60hz strobe tests and it flickers like a CRT and is NOT "double strobing", then I might consider buying it. I Just don't like that there's no freesync. My system can't get high FPS at 2560x1440. I already know what the performance is like because the older Benq monitors have firmware bugs where you can use VT tweaks to do stuff like this:

Image

Yes that's 2560x1440@100hz.
it says 60hz because the VT tweak forces 0.167ms strobe pulse widths (16.7ms divided by 100=0.167).

I tried playing overwatch at 2560x1440@100 and it's too much of a FPS hit to be playable competitively with a r9 290X at Ultra details :(
I can lower the details to high but that doesn't look as good :(

I'm very interested to know at 144 Hz strobing, how bright the monitor is and if the cross-talk has been minimized at all.

I know without instrumentation you won't be able to give luminosity, maybe if you have another monitor, put it next to it and put both on their brightest as a comparison and take a photo.

By the way, can I ask where did you purchase the monitor?

Luckbad, if you can't read your private messages, is there a way I can talk to you directly?
Do you have Skype or steam? I'm Falkentyne on both....

We need some 60hz "single strobe" tests (CRT flicker, etc) and some 144hz crosstalk fullscreen tests (this requires also changing the "Area" setting in the service menu).

Still need 60hz single strobe confirmation :(
I just got off the phone with Benq and spoke to Robert and he said he doesn't know if the XL2735 can single strobe at 60hz, as it's not listed in the official specifications.
