Looking for good 24' 120-144hz for CS:GO only

Post by KeT0M » 25 Oct 2016, 11:11

Hi there.

I have 2 IPS displays made by Eizo (so rather good quality displayes in terms of picture quality etc.), however I am thinking of buying a third display that I would use only for gaming. I do not want to go for any fancy IPS gaming displays, I just want a pretty simple 24 inch Full HD 120-144hz gaming display.

The options I consider (from the cheapest to the most expensive):
LG 24GM77-B = 284,65 USD
Benq XL2411Z = 302,30 USD
Benq Zowie XL2411 = 312,30 USD
Asus VG248QE = 314,90 USD

Can you tell me which one of them would be the best pick in terms of playing CS:GO, motion clarity, input lag etc.?

All these models has low input lag.
May be LG has lowest input lag (search Latenzzeit at http://www.prad.de/new/monitore/test/20 ... teil8.html )
BenQ has worse overdrive may be. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I recommend to wait for 24.5" 240Hz TN displays this year.

Thank you for your input. I appreciate that.

Can someone verify what Q83la7ta said?

Besides that, I am afraid 24.5" 240Hz TN displays will not be priced nowhere near what I am willing to spend on this. To put it very simple, after experiencing EIZO quality (picture quality, advanced control electronics comparing to other manufacturers, customer support etc.) I think spending anything over 340-350 USD on anything that is not made by NEC or EIZO (or any other brand which specialises in display manufacturing) is not justified to me.

Unfortunately, EIZO does not have a nicely priced 120-144Hz gaming monitor at the moment:
- FG2421 was IMO not that great of the product, currently rather unavailable
- FS2735 is 27" and 1440p both of which I do not want/need. EDIT: Not gonna lie, the price of this one would kill me as well.

I got a 27" 144Hz for CS:GO. Bigger image, easier aiming at heads ;-)

I know this might sound weird, but is 27" more of a american thing? i feel like most people in AUS go with the 24" models but online it feels like most people go with the 27.

Bigger is better in Merica! :D

C27FG70
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-24-Inch- ... B01M1DEEYP
$399 US with samsung quantum dot panel
$499 for 27" version

125% sRGB
3000:1 Contrast
1ms (though this would be calculated after strobing probably/may not be the same as other 1ms strobed...but seems to be combined with freesync which is a first, no reviews yet...)
only its 2k/1080p
144hz Freesync
1800R Curve
no ips glow
no panel lottery yet...
has an auto strobe quad channel back light...basically the eizo 240 replacement...comes out in 3 days...

What one wants is 1ms MPRT.

That's the motion blur biggie (strobed).

In the past, monitor manufacturers often measured the speed of pixel transitions, but pixel transitions (once well below a refresh cycle) has nearly no effect on motion blur. (For a 16.7ms refresh cycle, 60Hz, the full persistence is the dominant factor, and the 1-2ms pixel transition is a minor factor).

So, you want MPRT (MPRT = Moving Picture Response Time), which is actually properly linearly proportional to motion blur. Twice the MPRT, twice the motion blur. Whereas, 1ms MPRT translates to 1 pixel of motion blurring for every 1000 pixels/second motion (e.g. http://www.testufo.com animations). For strobed monitors, MPRT measurements accurately matches strobe length (Scientific assumptions: single strobed, framerate matching refresh rate, and ideally zero crosstalk between refresh cycles, square-wave strobing).

TL;DR: Pixel transition measurements (in ms) is not the same thing as MPRT measurements (in ms).
