Definitive check list for a Display?

Post by incidentflux » 27 Oct 2016, 06:24

Hello,

I suggested this (hopefully) comprehensive check list of options on PC Part Picker Forums. Apart from the standard, resolution, response time, refresh rate and brightness.

It's a nice idea and a lot of work, but it would probably go to waste. Most people buy monitors based on HZ/Contrast/ResponseTime and they lie about those specs anyways. And for the people that do care they probably only browse for monitors on informative sites like TFTcentral.

One of my intentions was also to expose these important parameters to a wider audience. Since I didn't find anything thing like this, in any FAQ here.

Instead of just "suggesting" the best monitor, best to know the "why" context.

Many mistakes:
>> Panel types: OLED, AMOLED, AH-IPS, IPS, TN, VA, Quantum Dot etc
list of VA types, list of IPS types.
Quantum Dot is backlight tech like CCLF, LED, wLED...
>> Input Lag: Range slider
there is no such parameter in specs. input lag test differs and have different results. impossible to compare.
>> Blur reduction (backlight strobing): Yes or No
Blur reduction (backlight strobing) quality: Bad or Good?
stoped read...
