BenQ XL2411Z Colour Settings

Post by Sptz » 03 Dec 2016, 12:44

Hi,

I was wondering what are the display/colour settings you guys are using since I want to stop using an ICC Profile because pretty much no games are able to use it. Basically, the most accurate representation of the colours, not super blown out for CSGO type games advantage.

Cheers!

RGB 100,100,92 for warmer or 100, 98, 96.
But apparently the XL2420Z's internal color presets are better than the XL2411Z, but that's from third party feedback. Internal presets cannot be accessed by the user.

this is what I find the best settings
>brightness: 100
>contrast: 50
>colors: R 91 - G 95 - B 100
I find that all the benq monitors I tried are horribly red tainted so I turn down red to comfortable level
I can't even imagine how people use red on 100 comfortably

My XL2720Z is definitely NOT red tainted whatsoever. The VG248QE, on the other hand--both samples--favored the red channel far too much.

The XL2720Z looks quite neutral.
The XL2411Z was known to have the worst internal color presets (which can't be changed), while the XL2420Z was more balanced. The XL2430T isn't much better than the XL2411Z.

I'm not 100% sure of that. There is a tool to calibrate color (with a not user friendly method that ask you to view the monitor at a certain angle and to choose when differents squares match the best to form a kind of uniform line) on the software benq displayplot.
Although i don't know if theses are surface calibration or a real modification of internal settings.

Maybe BenQ figured out that making that will allow more buy of their 100$+ model that is basically the same monitor internally.

It looked like some people, helped with blur busters benq certified tools + settings, achieves to find a good result.. but at 120hz.

The best would be maybe to put the more expansive on the side and to find the calibration that match it? (totally anti BenQ $$ plan haha).

The problem, as a new owner of the 2411Z, is that you really don't know what you have to do, and people on internet are much about having find a solution to their preference than "the good calibration for fps AND image quality at the same time".

I know this is a fairly old thread but here's a color calibration I did using a Colormunki Smile with DisplayCAL software:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/jj484z

Monitor settings:
Brightness 100
Contrast 49
Gamma 5

Color temp (User Mode)
R 95, G 95, B 93
