BenQ Strobe Phase and Service Menu?

Post by BJORKEN22 » 13 Jan 2017, 10:03

Hi!

So i've been googling around all day about the blur buster settings for my XL1124Z and as i've understood the service menu settings are the
same settings that are in the blur buster program?
Well if so which values in the blur buster program equals whiuch values in the service meny?

Also what crosstalk/strobe phase should i be using? i have seen different suggestions on different places.
I have made the VT 1500 tweak.

Strobe duty is the persistence slider, ranges from 1 to 30, full range.
Strobe phase is the crosstalk slider. It ranges from 0-100 in the service menu, but is limited to 47(?) in the windows utility so that people will not cut off the backlight with a VT Tweak active (strobephase above 049 at 120hz with any sort of VT tweak much above VT 1144 will shut off the backlight; for 100hz, it's past strobephase 059 with a VT Tweak active).

Without a VT Tweak active, you can use 0-100; strobe phase 100 will have up to 1 frame of lower input lag than strobephase 000 (strobephase 000 starts the strobing up to 1 frame behind compared to strobe phase 100. With a VT Tweak, since the maximum strobe phase is reduced, you can get the same 1 frame lower input lag by keeping this formula in mind:

DESIRED STROBEPHASE + DESIRED STROBE DUTY = backlight shutoff point.

for example at 120hz with a VT Tweak: the backlight shutoff point is strobe phase 050 (it shuts off at 050):

So...If you want a strobe duty of 006 (1.0ms persistence): Strobe phase 044 + strobe duty 006=050.

At 100hz with a VT Tweak: Strobe phase 054 + strobe duty 006=060.

If you are not using a VT tweak, these formulas don't apply.

A huge thanks for your great and fast reply (:

So basically i should run something like Strobe Duty 005 + Strobe Phase 045?

Also should i just leave single strobe off? As i've understood it does nothing for higher refresh rates?

Perhaps of the topic but do you happen to own a BenQ monitor? If so then what color settings/ICC profile are you using along with these Strobe settings?

Yes, strobe duty 006+strobe phase 044, and strobe duty 005+strobe phase 045, etc, though duty 005 is a darker screen and lower persistence than 006 (by 0.167ms).

The point at where the backlight shuts off depends on the refresh rate and the math behind that is explained in different posts I've made on this forum.

Should Single Strobe be on or off with 120Hz?

This setting is ignored when the refresh rate is higher than 98 hz.
(in V002 firmware, it had to be kept on, due to an abnormal bug that would happen if it was off. That's why Chief Blur Buster's windows utility forced this option on when any slider was moved. This bug was fixed in V003+)

Do these settings effect anything when blur reduction is off?
