Hey everyone.
I'm new here. I found this forum when I was searching for gaming equipment, monitors.
I'm a frequent gamer and want the best of the best to well be the best. Mainly CS: GO and Dota2.

I've found this to be pretty informative http://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2467
Was also looking at this guide for mouses and wondered if anyone had any input regarding mouse quality: http://www.fortygeeks.com/best-mouse-fo ... o-players/

Thanks.

By now, you've also probably have seen the Blur Busters Mouse Guide.

Which monitor modes do you play with? GSYNC, Blur Reduction (LightBoost/ULMB/etc), VSYNC ON, VSYNC OFF, etc...

If you are a competitive player with CS:GO, the lag recommendations vary quite a bit depending on what monitor mode you plan to use. (e.g. There are some known lag-reducing tricks that reduces VSYNC ON input lag significantly, even if not completely as much as VSYNC OFF)

Hi all, I'm looking to the same thing...

My plan is to go with Radeon, so i've searched freesync monitors, first the XG2401, but then the Agon AG251FZ 240hz (the Benq's are more expensive). Saw the review from TFTCentral, and has more blur @240hz in comparison with the PG258q (Gsync). Is it a big deal or not? I'm using a Samsung PX2370 60hz so im used to stutter and tearing, anything should be better lol.

Thanks in advance, sorry for my bad englando :) .

It depends on your priorities -- are you more sensitive to stutters/tearing or more sensitive to motion blur? Most 240Hz monitors will do reasonably good blur reduction at a lower refresh rate (120Hz).

One biggie is that the AOC 240Hz display has no blur-reduction strobe backlight mode.

They do make a big difference in blur-reduction, if you like super-sharp motion clarity (like on a CRT). LightBoost was the original, and manufacturers followed suit with things like "Motion Blur Reduction Mode" or "ULMB" (Ultra Low Motion Blur) or "Dynamic Accuracy" (dyAc - BENQ).

FWIW, there is less motion blur during strobed 120Hz than non-strobed 240Hz, if your eyes are more fussy about motion blur than with input lag/tearing/stutters.

If you like eliminating tearing & stutters, then definitely GSYNC/FreeSync is the way to go (see TestUFO simulation of G-SYNC showing smooth stutterfree transition during framerate changes, made possible by G-SYNC/FreeSync). Though it's often nice to have a choice to be able to enable a blur reduction mode for the certain games that benefit from it.

Hm interesting. So if I go with a gpu enough to pass the 240fps in some games, but not in others, i could switch to 120hz and enable the BR in a XL2540, right?

Benq blur reduction will work down to 100hz as expected. I do NOT know about custom refresh rates as I only have an original Z series monitor, but it should work at strange refresh rates like 110hz and 150hz, if you enable vsync.

The older Benq blur reduction monitors had a "single strobe" override which allowed strobing down to 60hz single frame, which was excellent for console output and 60hz locked games. This option was removed in all monitors starting with the XL2730Z, for reasons only Benq can tell you (I suggest HIGHLY that you call them and ask them to re-include this option). The XL2540, XL2735 will double strobe at refresh rates lower than 100hz.

120hz and 100hz and 144hz will single strobe.

XL2540 Can 180Hz with VT1500 and Blur Reduction enabled.

I am using a monitor 120hz and I am really content with it.
