BENQ XL2540 Having trouble with VT tweaks

Everything about displays and monitors. 120Hz, 144Hz, 4K, 1440p, input lag, motion tests & TestUFO, monitor decisions, and more. Questions? Just ask!

Just wanted to let you all know I succeeded creating a 180hz VT1500 resolution and it FINALLY displays it correctly in games,

Nvidia Control Panel couldn't apply it correctly I guess, I managed to do so with CRU, Default HT , VT1500 180Hz.

can you please recommend some nice looking area/intensity values to go along with it? (using area 0 intensity 20 right now but not completely sure its the best at vt1500, some guy in the XL2540's thread stated he uses 180.75(?)hz with VT1570-90 and these values.. not completely sure its the best for 1500 though

I can share my setup, but I'm not sure if will be good on any panels, probably you need to do your own calibration

BR on
Picture > Picture mode > Standard
Brightness > 100
Contrast > 35
Gamma > Gamma 3
Color Temperature > User Define > R_100 G_98 B_94

@180hz with intensity 12 = Luminance 120 cd/m2

In attachment the ICC profile generated with a spider3 colorimeter to minimize DeltaE on grayscale

EDIT: seems that I cannot add any files

EDIT2: ok inside a .zip works

What are the file extensions? .ICC? I will see if I can get the forum to support those.

Area value?

All the settings are the same for me besides contrast which is 50 and rgb uncalibrated (100,100,100)

Thank you, I solved it by putting the .icm files inside a zip archive

Area value is very subjective, with 10-15 the center of the screen looks like more clear to me. Lowering contrast help a bit to dim crosstalk (not too much anyway)

sorry for not replying I wasnt here for like a week due to massive pressure at work,

I actually switched to 240hz bcuz in CoD4 I (obviously) get constant 250FPS, but I left the settings as they were before, I use the default 240 (without any VT) and the area at 0 , intensity 20, do u think area 10-15 will be good @ 240hz aswell?

b0t, we can't answer these questions for you the way you want,
You have to test it yourself and use what looks best for your own eyes.
What you might enjoy may look too bright (or dark) for other players.

Intensity (Strobe Duty) settings are subjective and each person has different preferences.
Masterotaku used to use a persistence value of 0.5ms and liked it, while pretty much everyone else where would say that's too dark.
That's around an intensity of 23-25 on the XL2540 (Depending on how much persistence each point of Intensity gives, starting from 25 going backwards). I also don't know if intensity in the service menu (Strobe Duty) is darkest at 001 or 025, as Benq started reversing the values starting in the XL2430 (higher=darker, less persistence)

Chief and I don't even have XL2540's. I'm still hammering away on an XL2720Z. I think Chief is getting some newer screens soon though.
If someone figures out if the base persistence is 0.167ms or 0.5ms or 1ms, or if it depends on refresh rate itself (Example: 1000 divided by refresh rate, divided by 100), e.g. (1000 / 120) / 100 = 0.083 ms, per point of intensity (going backwards), an average baseline for decent brightness is 1.5ms of pixel persistence. But without knowing exactly how these monitors handle persistence, we can't answer your question.

on the 2540, Intensity 25 is darkest, I use 20, and I was asking about Area actually,

I cant test it myself cuz I get 60Hz ONLY on UFO tests.. probably because I got the Aero disabled on my WIN7..

Why don't you enable it?

Windows 7 Basic mode, right? Yes, that would limit TestUFO to 60fps.

Basic Mode can reduce the lag of windowed games (borderless windwed mode) -- at least that was the case until the new bypass-compositing mode for games recently introduced in WIndows 10 Creator's Update's "Game Mode".
