My mate had exactly same cons when he bought BenQ XL2540 (also 240Hz model) and compared with mine XL2540. I'm sure the reason is panel lottery.

I just got an Asus PG258Q and I don't have any of the issues you mentioned except mine gets pretty warm to the touch. The native 240Hz refresh rate actually works without needing to overclock the panel at all. The viewing angles and colors are above average for a TN panel, and with color calibration they're good unless you do content creation. Again, I haven't had any issues like you said about contrast level or vertical scan lines.

After having tried Asus PG248Q, Asus PG278Q, Asus PG279Q, Dell S2417DG, Dell S2716DG, Acer XB271HU and other gaming monitors this is finally it for me.

I also like how good the monitor looks. The BenQ and AOC 240Hz monitors look like little children's toys lol.

I recently purchased the PG259Q from amazon uk and it has the vertical scan line issue. I ordered a replacement, same issue.

They are really distracting especially at 144hz in some games where you need motion clarity.

I wonder if this user has noticed them now that some time has passed...perhaps he only tried it at 240hz or in titles where they aren't as obvious.
