Past 3D Vision laptops are able to enable LightBoost (via the 3D Glasses emitter trick), so there's no reason why a motion-blur-reducing strobe backlight technology such as ULMB can't be done on laptops.

However, I'm not sure if NVIDIA has enabled ULMB on any laptop LCDs.

For this specific MSI laptop, seeing that it is 120Hz IPS 5ms, this specific laptop probably does not have ULMB.

I checked a review and they said this is a TN screen, not an IPS.

For some reason, the "6th gen" one says IPS, but this doesn't mention IPS.
a search on google found that this was a TN 120hz screen.

The panel is "CMN1747"
listed here: (same panel).

Display:

17.3 inch 16:9, 1920x1080 pixel 127 PPI, TN LED, Name: Chi Mei N173HHE-G32, ID: CMN1747, glossy: no

I guess I'll find out when I receive the laptop. It's a 1920x1080 screen, and Masterotaku said the GPU does support 3d vision 2, but I know the ACI27F8 ToastyX CRU ID spoof won't enable Lightboost...even if the drivers can be tricked into allowing 3d vision 2 setup to work without goggles...

Unfortunately not. I've been watching this development too.

Alas, I've been having difficulty finding ULMB capability in laptops.

Currently, the best I can get is 3D Vision compatibiity (3D glasses) -- LightBoost -- but is tricky to enable on a laptop without 3D glasses.

I just ordered an MSI GT75VR TITAN PRO-215 VR Extreme Gaming Laptop 8-) Arrives Friday! It has 120Hz, 3ms, G-Sync display. Maybe I'll get lucky and win the ULMB lottery :) lol

Wait,
You got a laptop to enter "Strobe" mode?
How? The ACI27F8 ID + 3d vision drivers + 1138/1143/1149 Vertical totals don't work?

What magic did you do to make it work, and on what models?
I don't mind the long version....details are good.

It only works if the laptop officially supports 3D glasses, and supports a feature called LightBoost (via 3D Vision 2).

The easiest way to enable the rare laptop LightBoost is to purchase the 3D Vision kit.

Does your laptop support "3D Vision 2"?

Wow  This laptop screen is the best I've ever seen! It doesn't even need ULMB. If the fps stay at 120, I enable VSync and notice no perceivable motion blur. Like butter baby! Lol

I don't think so....at least I never saw the logo plastered all over MSI's website...
(its' a GT73VR Titan).
