Best 240hz monitor for FPS
Re: Best 240hz monitor for FPS
The Acer and the Asus also have g-sync, so I'd recommend one of them.

I think 'they' said it has brighter ULMB and ULMB can be uses at any refreshrate. besides that, i'm not sure what else.
Re: Best 240hz monitor for FPS
Yeah that's pretty much it. it's just as bright with DyAc (ULMB) on or off, even at 240Hz.lexlazootin wrote:I think 'they' said it has brighter ULMB and ULMB can be uses at any refreshrate. besides that, i'm not sure what else.
If G-Sync is more important to you (especially if you play a lot of games on high details), then that's what you should look for.
If ULMB is your main focus, like for an FPS game, then the XL2546 is a good option. I think it has the best ULMB implementation.

Whats better though for competitive FPS lets say if you can only get around 200 fps instead of 240+drmcninja wrote:Yeah that's pretty much it. it's just as bright with DyAc (ULMB) on or off, even at 240Hz.lexlazootin wrote:I think 'they' said it has brighter ULMB and ULMB can be uses at any refreshrate. besides that, i'm not sure what else.

There's not much point in going to 240Hz if you can't get the framerate to match it. So use 120/144Hz until you can upgrade your system hardware as well.StillBlaze wrote:Whats better though for competitive FPS lets say if you can only get around 200 fps instead of 240+drmcninja wrote:Yeah that's pretty much it. it's just as bright with DyAc (ULMB) on or off, even at 240Hz.lexlazootin wrote:I think 'they' said it has brighter ULMB and ULMB can be uses at any refreshrate. besides that, i'm not sure what else.

For competitive FPS, 144Hz or 120Hz with ULMB is better than G-Sync and no ULMB. The effect of ULMB is totally different and directly helps competitive FPS. G-Sync only helps competitive FPS for some players who have issues with visually reconciling stutters/tearing (I am or was one such person). But in that case, I just ran ULMB + Fast-Sync for a while. You can't run ULMB + G-Sync I believe and if you have to choose one of the two, ULMB is more important for competitive FPS.
A GTX 1070 or equivalent should consistently hit 240+fps at all low detail settings in CS or Overwatch. I don't know if their prices have come down since the cryptocurrency mining craze, but those should not be unaffordable ideally.
I haven't tested it myself, but I think a 1060 could hit such framerates too? I don't know.

I run a 1080 @ 2050mhz / 4790k @ 4.6ghz / 16gb 2400 mhz 11 - 13 - 13 -35drmcninja wrote:There's not much point in going to 240Hz if you can't get the framerate to match it. I plan to upgrade to a 8700k / 16gb 3600mhz 16-16-16-38 / m2 SSD with a Asus Apex Mobo Designed for OCing 5+ghz
Right now i easily get CSGO framerate and Quake Live, I get 200-250 FPS with Quake Champions and hopefully the new system will get 250+ I do enjoy playing stuff like Battlefield1/Titanfall2 and other eye candy games now and then for fun.
If BenQ isnt clearly much better for fast movements then it looks like the Gsync is the winner?
Re: Best 240hz monitor for FPS
wow thanks for your replies.
So I use most graphic settings in overwatch set to low so I can get the best frames and minimal input lag even though I'm using a decent card GTX1080.
By reading your replies for better competitive FPS go the BenQ Zowie even though I'm using a NVIDIA card which supports g=sync? I would benefit more using ULMB then g-sync? a bit confused still HAHA
