looking for 34"+ screen suggestions

Post by davidjo » 20 Sep 2017, 00:48

Hi all as title states, im looking for suggestions for a monitor 34" and above, or even HDTV with a higher refresh rate.

This will be used a secondary monitor to my benq xl2540. Basically for use for anything apart from competitive csgo. So basically for viewing pleasure while playing other games, watching movies, watching twitch streams.

Since ill still be play other games from time to time, I still want a decent refresh rate, 4k would be nice and colour quality. Budget 0-1500 aud

34+ screen sizes are usually ultrawide. Are you looking for 21:9 or 16:9 monitors at that size? Because there aren't many 16:9 gaming monitors above 27" currently.

I see the LG 29UM68-P is what a lot of people are using next to the 1080p 240Hz monitor to have same vertical pixels with a little more space and IPS for the viewing angle. I currently have a 1440p monitor on the side, and I really don't like the difference in resolution as it is a pita to move around windows.

When I was using 1440p 144hz for a while as main monitor I tried a 34" non-curved as side monitor and it was way too long and hard to view. I looked into using a curved ultrawide, but I found some posts where people say it's odd to look at a curved monitor on the side and not straight on.

I'm personally interested in ultrawide gaming, but am patiently waiting for the Displayport 1.4 versions (200Hz+ 3440x1440 0.5ms Ultrawide) to come out early next year. Could use that as your main monitor and it'll be worth the $$$. In the interim, I am just going to get the LG above or standard size monitor as extended.
