MSI MAG274QRF-QD vs Asus ROG Swift PG279QM

Post by jimbus80 » 28 Aug 2021, 11:19

Hello, guys.

I'm very interested in your opinions between these two monitors. Let me tell you what I know so far about them:

Both of them:
  • Are 1440p.
  • Have sRGB mode (the MSI after a firmware update).
  • Are IPS (well, the MSI uses QD technology).
  • Are flat.
The Asus ROG Swift PG279QM:
  • Reaches 240hz (vs 165).
  • Has a real Gsync module (vs Gsync compatible, though with variable OD too).
The MSI MAG274QRF-QD:
  • Is way cheaper.
  • Has BFI (anti motion blur).
I own the MSI but I'm looking for the best performance in gaming, specifically smoothness and as less motion blur as possible (because after a while I could have headache). That's why I wonder if the Asus is a better choice (in Europe we won't be able to get the Viewsonic XG2431 I've read).

So, I don't really care about numbers or specifications that anyone can get in internet (both are reviewed by Hardware Unboxed), but real gaming experience by somebody who has been fortunate enough to try both or can explain why one is clearly better than the other in pure gaming experience.

Btw, I mostly play racing (Project Cars 2 and Assetto Corsa Competizione, for example) games with a wheel.

Thanks, guys.

I'm not interested in changing manually the OD. I know "fast" is the best for the MSI at any moment, but with the XG27AQM you need to change it (and there are 5 or 6) depending on the average fps you are getting to ensure yourself the best results and avoid things like overshoot, and that's not something I'm willing to do after paying the amount of money these monitors cost.
