Hi everyone!
I will buy a 240hz monitor today but i have a question.
The question is what happens if i get 170fps at 240hz monitor. Does it increase input lag or does it cause anything else?
If i get 170 FPS at 240hz monitor?
Re: If i get 170 FPS at 240hz monitor?
No, no extra input lag from the monitor's side. The monitor doesn't care how many FPS you get. Even in VRR mode (g-sync/freesync), the monitor does not add any extra lag due to lower FPS.
However, even though the monitor will not cause any extra lag, low FPS in general has more lag than high FPS, regardless of the monitor.
The only thing that happens from the monitor's side with lower FPS is that without VRR, if FPS does not match Hz, there will be some judder (meaning it's not as smooth.)

170 FPS at 240Hz has lower lag (faster frame delivery) than 170 FPS at 170Hz, for instance, due to an increased scanout speed, at least as long as you're running G-SYNC on + V-SYNC on/off or G-SYNC off + V-SYNC off (aka no sync).
This goes for any framerate on a 240Hz monitor running at a physical refresh rate of 240; the higher the current physical refresh rate, the faster the frame delivery, regardless of framerate.
Things are a little different if you're using standalone V-SYNC (G-SYNC off + V-SYNC on), but you didn't mention what you use.
