Although opinions vary, I disagree. It's my favourite strobed monitor for overall picture quality, for solo 120fps@120Hz gaming. If one doesn't have own 6 monitors already, I would pony up the ~$600 for the EIZO FG2421

Inconsistency certainly seems to be the case, so you want to be able to exchange the monitor, if needed.
The "gaming hardware" business is getting out of hand; it seems that vendors just slap a "gaming" sticker on some product just so they can justify a high price.

A big consideration for testing in-house, is that I've found most VA panels (including 60Hz) to be very temperature sensitive, so you want to warm it up, so that the FG2421 has excellent strobe quality. VA panels have a lot of ghosting when the panel is cold.
