Flicker on 271QRX (not typical)

High Hz on OLED produce excellent strobeless motion blur reduction with fast GtG pixel response. It is easier to tell apart 60Hz vs 120Hz vs 240Hz on OLED than LCD, and more visible to mainstream. Includes WOLED and QD-OLED displays.

Flicker on 271QRX (not typical)

Post by Gandi » 14 Apr 2024, 01:43

Hello!

My friend has recently bought MSI 271QRX and heexperiences some weird flicker that I have never seen before It doesn't look like classic near black OLED/LG flicker

Video attached: https://streamable.com/sjdlyk

Settings used: 360 Hz, G-Sync On, V-Sync On in control panel

Bad cable? Tried different DPs and HDMIs
Bad monitor firmware?

Turn off overdrive in the monitor OSD and see if that helps. It's recommended to disable overdrive anyway with his display.

Can't find it in monitors settings? Are you sure?

I was going by what the rtings review said, which is "Recommended Overdrive Setting: No Overdrive". I misunderstood that as a recommendation to disable overdrive. But apparently what it means is that this display has no overdrive.

Update (forgot to post)

It was nvidia framelimiter misbehaving, FPS lock didn't lock work properly and FPS/frame time fluctuated a lot causing flicker

Fixed after reinstalling drivers with DDU
