Asus VG248QE artifacts?

Post by GGTY » 30 Mar 2015, 02:16

Hello everyone,

I just bought a VG248QE and have set up LightBoost at 120Hz and 10% brightness.

I'm noticing some sort of artifact with my monitor, but I'm still not familiar with all the technical terms, so it's hard for me to search the forums or describe what it is.

It's kind of like a stuttering/ghosting effect, where a frame lags behind the other.
I'm using the Moving Photo test here: http://www.testufo.com/#test=photo&phot ... 0&height=0

I've captured some slow motion videos with my iPhone in hopes of showing the issue to you guys.

The questionable area is a horizontal strip across the entire monitor about 1/4 of the way from the top. In the full monitor video, it's about where my mouse cursor is. In the zoomed in version, you can see the top portion lags behind the bottom. Everywhere else the image quality is motion blur free.

Could anyone tell me if this is normal, or do I have a defective monitor? Is there anything else I can do to calibrate it?

Also, if this question has been asked/answered before, please point me to the right post!
Thanks in advance!

That's a frame tear/screen tearing, It could be happening because of your browser syncing up correctly. What browser are you running and try a different browser.

Do other programs/games/applications do this also?

I'm using the latest Chrome, and waiting until the browser says it's in sync (after I do any scrolling)

I've tried it with only one tab open, and it's still the same.

I haven't had much time to test other applications yet, but I'll do some more tests and report back
