Upgraded GPU, strobelight.exe stopped working

Post by Tinyboss » 29 Jan 2016, 13:31

Everything was great with my VG248QE monitor and AMD HD 7870 video card. But I just replaced the video card with an R9 380, and strobelight.exe no longer works. It runs fine and says it's working, the tray icon appears, but my monitor is not strobing. Also I'm not seeing the "initializing display, pass xxx" message that I would occasionally see before.

I did not update my AMD drivers in the process, so I'm using the same driver that was working before. I've reset the display and rebooted and reconfigured strobing several times, with no luck. Any idea what's going on here?

You probably shut off the monitor so Lightboost got disabled but strobelight.exe thinks it's enabled.
1) uninstall your video card drivers through add/remove programs
2) download and run Wagnard's display driver uninstaller.

(yes you don't have to go to guru3d. He has his own official website and forum also).

3) boot into safe mode and run DDU.
4) reboot into normal mode, reinstall video card drivers. reboot the PC again.
5) run strobelight setup. Install the strobed refresh rates. *reboot*.
6) run strobelight.exe

Problem solved.
