No. Everything works if it isn't an already established resolution, like 2560x1440, 1920x1080, etc. Those already exist, so I can't create them.Vega wrote:masterotaku is 2350 the widest pixels you've found that works while keeping 1440 vertical?
G-Sync and ULMB at the same time is in fact possible!

Wait, so you are saying this trick will work with a resolution of 2558x1440? And if you use 1:1 scaling only miss one vertical line of pixels on either edge?masterotaku wrote:No. Everything works if it isn't an already established resolution, like 2560x1440, 1920x1080, etc. Those already exist, so I can't create them.Vega wrote:masterotaku is 2350 the widest pixels you've found that works while keeping 1440 vertical?

You actually installed Windows 7 on another drive, Vega?

Yes, it works, although what I use is 2544x1431, because some games can be picky about having pure 16:9 resolutions (for emulators, where I need that 1440p, I use whatever horizontal resolution). The trick always works. The only limitation is what I said, resolutions that the monitor already has, which are in this complete list:Vega wrote: Wait, so you are saying this trick will work with a resolution of 2558x1440? I wonder if they can be deleted with CRU and then be created as custom resolutions.

Just successfully did this with a 3D vision 2 kit and a Benq XL2420G.
Resolution used was 1912 x 1076.
G-SYNC is on and the green 3D light has stayed lit. Nvidia Lightboost options in monitor are working.
Only issue is the custom resolution is a little blurry.
EDIT: Scratch that, while the desktop did work and UFO test was beautiful. Games would not start up.

You saved me time, does it just black screen?Denonic wrote:Just successfully did this with a 3D vision 2 kit and a Benq XL2420G.

I have a small correction to make. The lowest single strobe fps are 38fps (edit: on Doom 3 at least. In other games it's unstable. Maybe because of non perfect frametimes?). 37fps double strobes. I checked it with Doom 3.
Skyrim already was double strobing sometimes at 40fps, I guess because of bad frame pacing or something. Oh, well, it doesn't affect much, a pair of fps.
Denonic, what games have you tried? It can work with some windowed games, like One Finger Death Punch, for example. Use the custom resolution at desktop before launching a game at that resolution just in case, and make sure the game doesn't want to change the refresh rate to anything other than 120Hz.
By the way, disable scaling, so you get tiny black borders instead of ugly scaling.

Could you elaborate on "games would not start up"? Do you mean the games would not launch or the ULMB-G_Sync combo would go away in the game? Even when selecting the custom resolution in the game?Denonic wrote:Just successfully did this with a 3D vision 2 kit and a Benq XL2420G.

Also, are you on Windows 7? So far it appears Win 7 and NVIDIA 3D emitter are key items.

We found out the reason you didn't get the "3d mode always on..." dropbox was because you were in windows 10. It only appears in windows 7 (and maybe 8).lexlazootin wrote:You saved me time, does it just black screen?Denonic wrote:Just successfully did this with a 3D vision 2 kit and a Benq XL2420G.

It would black screen and I couldn't do anything to get out of it but restart. 3D emitter would turn off and monitor would get no signal. Menu audio in Overwatch and CS:GO start so the game is definitely running in the background just not in a playable way.
Using Nvidia 3D Vision 2 kit and Windows 10. Used registry tweak to force always on 3D in the desktop.
Will try again after work tonight. My guess is the custom res was causing an issue with the games. I'll try setting the game to windowed full screen before launching with the bug again.
