G-Sync and ULMB at the same time is in fact possible!

Ask about motion blur reduction in gaming monitors. Includes ULMB (Ultra Low Motion Blur), NVIDIA LightBoost, ASUS ELMB, BenQ/Zowie DyAc, Turbo240, ToastyX Strobelight, etc.

I have the XL2420G and I've got the same results as Chief.

"UNFORTUNATELY.... it's not working the way it "should". It's fixed-rate 120Hz strobing, and not varying stroberate with the GSYNC. The benefits aren't there, in the one-flash-per-refresh required."

Yes, both are "on" but it's defiantly not working as intended like the Dell.

I've got a feeling this is a way to activate the glitch without glasses, if someone has the Dell please tell me if this works.

1. Disable G-Sync

2. Enable ULMB in monitor

3. Create a custom res and ADD +5 to your Vertical Total

4. Enable G-Sync

And that should work... maybe... When i do this with my XL2420G the lightboost light is on and when i play games my screen goes black.

Yeah, it's apparent that the trick isn't working as intended.

It's not worth using -- GSYNC-only or strobe-only looks much better than this non-properly-functioning mode.
Only the Dell seems to be doing it anywhere remotely 'properly'.

The other step is to force LightBoost (instead of ULMB), and see if that might work much better. Basically keeping ULMB turned off, but turning on LightBoost. They're really similar strobe backlights, with extremely subtle differences as LightBoost is used for 3D glasses use, and the strobe backlight helps to prevent crosstalk between the eyes.

I have a Acer XB271HU
Is it possible to enable lightboost on it?
If so could you point me to right direction?

Is that a 1440p monitor?
If so, while the "Spoofing ID" of the Product ID to ACI27F8 will work in ToastyX CRU, even if you manage to install the 3d vision 2 drivers and it "detects" an Asus 120hz 3d LCD", the problem HERE is that in order for Lightboost to work, a resolution MUST be tested that lightboost USES.

This is the problem.
The standard Lightboost defintions from the 1920x1080 3d vision 2 monitors were:

1920x1080:

60hz: Double strobes, usually by setting an incorrect Vertical Total *HIGHER* than the one designed for 120hz: 1155 VT (Benq XL2720Z, 2420Z, 2411Z), 1180 VT (Asus VG248QE).

100hz: VT 1138
110hz: VT 1143
120hz: VT 1149

If using an Nvidia card and the option; "Set when display is in 3d mode ->always" is set to on, any refresh rate lower than 100hz will DOUBLE STROBE. This is how Benq blur reduction reverse engineered Lightboost, and why 50hz-95hz double strobes and "Single Strobe Override" 50hz will cause OVP to trigger and the monitor will hard power cycle.

The problem is that NO ONE has yet figured out the exact 3d vision 2 lightboost settings for the 1440p monitors or even if it uses Lightboost in the same type of way as the older monitors. Did someone above me manage to get Lightboost enabled on a 1440p monitor WITHOUT a 3d vision 2 kit? Without it being a bugged ULMB mode?

I can post the timimgs of my cust resolutions if you want that. Has anyone with a Dell S2716DG here tried importing mi ".bin" file? Or someone with any other 1440p monitor?

The geforce forums got buried with barely any views. Perhaps on reddit or overclock.net it will get more attention.

I got confirmation from an S2417DG user, guys! http://www.overclock.net/t/1577511/dell ... t_25819380

Edit: and confirmed with Windows 10. Yaaaaay!!!!

I tried that too with my S2716DG (using 1530VT, which is what custom resolutions try to use when I do my old trick, instead of 1525 by default now) and it worked.

People with other G-Sync monitors should try the same thing.

Interesting,

I did a new test by changing just vertical total and not touch the actual resolution part that I usually do and indeed it works then and the overdrive then is also perfect rather than overshooting that it did before

But I still get frames in between that are total black when the framerate is fluctuating, this happens in frame rates of 110 to 120
So for me still not usable but alot better than it was before
