Is there something that confirms that? Have been given advice on another forum saying that these 2 monitors are virtually identical. Only difference being the screen size and obviously the resolution each is capable of displaying.Gryz wrote:Different monitors, with different panels. Re: Acer XB270HA 27" 1080p 144hz
It is virtually impossible for manufacturers to make 2 identical panels of exactly the same type and have them have exactly the same colors. That is why you should calibrate every monitor itself. Even when you have the profile of another monitor of that same type. That's how hard it is to produce a certain guaranteed color profile.
And now we're talking about 2 different types of monitors. With different sizes and different resolutions. That's virtually a guarantee that the panels are *really* different. And therefor that the colors will also be really different. They might come from the same factory. And they both might have "TN" stamped on it. But I sincerely doubt that the colors are the same.
I gave you a good solution to use the ICC profile supplied by Acer. Why's that not good enough ?

Not only that but the Acer 27" is listed as an 8bit panel and the 24" is not

Hi
Thinking about picking this up. Quick question regarding the image quality - any issues with visible overshoot? Inverse ghosting is kinda drving me mad on my current monitor

Re: Acer XB270HA 27" 1080p 144hz
First Post (Hi)...Thanks for this posting as it helped improve this monitor immensely for me...I just got this monitor yesterday and, coming from using a decent 42" 1080p plasma for the last 6 years, I was quite stunned with how messed up the colors were and how limited in variation the blacks were; had already started mulling over the hassle of returning this to Amazon. I tried using this test ( http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php ) and after trying to tweak it manually (and from some suggestions on various sites) I could only make out the bottom row of tiles, everything else was one big mess of gray-ish black. After adding his color profile and tweaks WOW, I could now see every tile distinctly with subtle variations...the blacks of course aren't as deep as other panels, but it's good enough for me (audio production, gaming, surfing). I knew going in the viewing angle would be less than ideal...but for everything else, the tweaks really turn this monitor around. HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone with this to do this tweak.coercion wrote:I made a mistake and it seems there are RGB sliders so I made a recalibration for 6500K kelvin white point. I'm posting all settings

This makes this monitor look almost exactly like my ips monitor.
Also I should note that "Unparking CPU cores" and "disabling Hyper Threading" solved my microstutter problem for gsync (these are game related though).
I hope this helps
Here's my question...Besides Windows, I also use this monitor in Mac OSX...can this profile work in Mac OSX or is it a windows only deal?
Re: Acer XB270HA 27" 1080p 144hz
I'm pretty sure ICC-profiles should work on both Windows and Mac.johndough247 wrote:Here's my question...Besides Windows, I also use this monitor in Mac OSX...can this profile work in Mac OSX or is it a windows only deal?

Re: Acer XB270HA 27" 1080p 144hz
Thanks, I actually figured it out...however I noticed two things:
1) There was a profile for that exact monitor already selected...maybe OSX detected and downloaded it?
2) I loaded coercion's color profile and it didn't quite look like it did in windows. It's still pretty good, but a little on the warm side compared to how it looks in windows. The OSX version looked kinda cold so I stuck with coercion's profile.

I can't understand how people who give monitor calibrations always have such low brightness. At 6 brightness the monitor is unusable for me. What am I missing?coercion wrote:I made a mistake and it seems there are RGB sliders so I made a recalibration for 6500K kelvin white point. I'm posting all settings

Can you upload link please for icc Profile. Getting Error (429) This account's links are generating too much traffic and have been temporarily disabled!
