G-Sync+vsync question
G-Sync+vsync question
Hello, I recently switched to a PG258Q 240hz G-sync, i currently cap my fps to 236 and use vsync from the settings in game, but i was wondering if it makes any difference to activate it from the NVCP (i see often it is recommended) i guess it depends by the game's optimizations but i'm not sure what's best to use. I Mainly play CS:GO, overwatch and apex legends. Thank you!
Re: G-Sync+vsync question
99% of the time it doesn't matter; the in-game V-SYNC option and the NVCP V-SYNC option behave the same when used with G-SYNC.
However, there are rare 1% instances where the in-game option may cause unexpected behavior. Regarding Apex Legends in particular, refer to one of my recent posts in another thread:

I personally recommend using the NVCP option with G-SYNC, simply for those 1% instances, but it's not a hard and fast rule.

That was an interesting read. Thank you for the info!
Re: G-Sync+vsync question
Hi, guys.
I am using XG270.
I have wierd 225 framerate cap with G-sync ON + V-sync ON (nvidia cp) + Fullscreen. Tried at different games and benchmarks.
If G-sync ON + V-sync OFF + Fullscreen or G-sync ON + V-sync ON + Windowed - framerate goes max (or 237 if i cap it via RTSS)
Is it normal for G-sync ON + V-sync ON + Fullscreen to be capped at 225 fps without capping it in nvidia cp/RTSS/game?
Tnx for reply.
Cheers from Ukralne )

Re: G-Sync+vsync question
Do you happen to have Low Latency Mode set to "Ultra"? Is so, that setting auto caps the FPS slightly below your refresh rate when using G-SYNC + V-SYNC. Set Low Latency Mode to "On" instead if you want to limit the FPS with another method.

Re: G-Sync+vsync question
Oh, yes, it works.
Thanks for help.
Thanks for help.
Re: G-Sync+vsync question
I have the same problem as you originally posted. I have Gsync and Vsync on in the control panel. I am capped at 225fps but will max out at 240fps with Vsync off. I initially had Low Latency Mode OFF and turned it ON as the one guy suggested. It did not work for me.
Does this setup still work for you? I'm just trying to find solutions and you seem to be the only person posting this. I believe you had posted on Reddit and in Nvidia's comments section too.

I currently am dealing with the same problem how do i fix it
Re: G-Sync+vsync question
Goodlie, does this happen for all games? I'm trying to catch up with this post since I don't really remember if I ever fixed this issue. I also can't remember if it was every game for me.

This is expected behavior; LLM Ultra's auto FPS limiter only activates with G-SYNC + NVCP V-SYNC enabled.
You'll need to set a manual FPS limit if you want to use G-SYNC on + V-SYNC off (or G-SYNC + NVCP V-SYNC + LLM "On") instead.
