Overclocking 1080P to 1440P

Hello,

I have no issue overclocking my benq2540XL to 1440P but I cannot get it done with my AOC Gsync monitor.
It's a 144hz gsync AOC, that I would like to make it work at 1440P Gsync 144Hz.
With nvidia creating a custom resolution work, hitting test, the resolution work, but then when I hit apply it doesn't work and just stay at 1080P, any idea ?

Generally speaking, is there anything bad with overclocking it to 1440P ? I just need to test if there's any frameskip and that's it ? Will gsync work too ?

There is no reason to do that, since DSR will give you better results.

"Overclocking" the resolution of an LCD monitor does not actually give you higher resolution. LCDs only have one resolution. Using any other resolution will result in the monitor scaling it to the one resolution is supports. And you can do that with DSR already, without having to "overclock" anything.

This was only useful a couple years ago, where DSR didn't exist yet. Now that it does, this practice is now virtually useless and sub-optimal.
The views and opinions expressed in my posts are my own and do not necessarily reflect the official policy or position of Blur Busters.
