Oculus Rift dk2 overclocking

Talk about overclocking displays at a higher refresh rate. This includes homebrew, 165Hz, QNIX, Catleap, Overlord Tempest, SEIKI displays, certain HDTVs, and other overclockable displays.

Oculus Rift dk2 overclocking

Post by felvhage » 30 Jul 2014, 16:32

So, i was hoping for some thoughts on this subject. :)
The Dk2 is specced 75hz (max) and also uses low persistence, so i would expect some flicker. Or is there perhaps a reason why 75hz on an OLED would cause less flicker? I read alot about the dk2, but the flickering does not seem to be an issue. Still, im wondering why they dont offer atleast 100hz.

Well, has anyone perchance recieved his dk2 yet and can tell me if it is flickering? Or did someone even overclock it?

Feel free to share your thoughts on overclocking the dk2. :geek:

for me personally, on crts, 60hz strobing is horrible, but i can't really distinguish between anything >75hz unless there is motion

i should note that i find crt strobing more noticeable when not looking at it directly. since the oculus dk2 has a wide field of view, strobing could be more pronounced than on a computer monitor.
