new "240Hz" panels

Post by Q83Ia7ta » 18 Oct 2016, 13:31

AUO M250HTN01.3 - 240Hz borderless version
http://www.panelook.com/M250HTN01.3_AUO ... 28334.html

AUO M250HTN01.0 - 240Hz non-borderless :) version
http://www.panelook.com/M250HTN01.0_AUO ... 28331.html

There are also:
AUO M250HTN01.1 - 75Hz non-borderless :) version
AUO M250HTN01.2 - 144Hz non-borderless :) version
AUO M250HTN01.5 - 75Hz borderless version

Some info at panelook.com makes me confused. Response time: 3.8/1.2 (Typ.)(Tr/Td) and LVDS (2ch, 8-bit) is same for all M250HTN01 panels.
M240HW01 V8 (almost all 24" 144Hz monitor) has response time: 3.5/1.5 (Typ.)(Tr/Td) and LVDS (4ch, 8-bit)

Will this response time make 240Hz bad or I'm understand these things wrong?

btw I expect XL2540 will be first released 240Hz monitor. Thanks god it's not a g-sync model. (-$100).

Thank you for finding this, I'm so incredibly hyped! :D

I just wouldn't look too much into the response times. The AUO M270DAN02.3 that is in the Acer XB270HU is rated for 12ms G2G but scores 5.5ms avg G2G on TFT.

The AUO M270DTN01.0 in the Benq XL2730Z is rated for 3.5raise/1.5fall but only scores 4.1/2.6 on TFT, and that's with Benq's pretty overcompensative overdrive.

They hit over, they hit under. Without knowing exactly what they tested to get those numbers it's pretty useless IMO. And of course it depends on the board.

You've have a M270HHF-L10 and a Zisworks board, at 240hz the overdrive is a lot less *noticeable* and if it's any cleaner then the M270HHF-L10 from 2011, then it will look pretty sweet! Sadly i don't think this panel will work with the ZisWorks board because of the (2ch, 8-bit) thing? I asked on skype but he hasn't replied yet.

I love to hate on Benq, but because this monitor requires so much bandwidth i'm guessing they might have to do some serious planing redesigning their board and fix a lot of their borked stuff. Please Benq, i have high hopes :)

Again, i'm so hyped, i'm probs gonna get the G-Sync one, i can't trust Benq with my overdrive :)

at TFT Central 5.5ms is with overdrive and ~11ms without. There is a good joke about response time: https://twitter.com/TFTCentral/status/7 ... 4273119236 joke comes from http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/ace ... r_z271.htm

I have ZisWorks DVI board with M240HW01 V8 @ 220Hz playable.

LOL, what a joke.

Ah, ok. I just assumed it was the M270HHF-L10.

I find that because the persistence is so low and the image is so clear that the overdrive doesn't really bother me too much at 250hz~.

Benq sometimes simply release the same monitors with the same hardware but just upgrade the firmware, very specifically with the Zowie range. And/or they do very small upgrade like swap out the panel and not adjust the colour or overdrive specifically to work with the new panel.

The joke was that they were going to reuse their old hardware with the new panel and just update the firmware to work at 240hz.

Benq's overdrive is over the top and just bad... Because Nvidia is in full control of the overdrive and colour when using the G-Sync port they can make it come out really well, i'm actually really happy with what they did. Even the color in sRGB mode is WAY more accurate when using the G-Sync port. I did a really good comparison here:

http://forums.blurbusters.com/viewtopic ... sic+engine

From Falkentyne image taken of the XL2720Z, it looks like Benq used the same overdrive on that monitor (Which is nowhere as bad as mine) and just applied it too mine without adjusting it for the new panel, so it came out bad.

Benq is a very lazy company.

ZisWorks said that these panels will work with his driver.

"5v 4ch. they will work. image quality will probably be worse than m270hhf-l10 because they are 6bit+frc to get 8bit"
